“Absolutely charming”

We could not have been made to feel more at home during our stay in this beautiful property. Innkeeper Ellen is charming, helpful and a consummate professional with that rare skill and sense of humor required to truly practice the art of hospitality. Breakfast was personalized upon request and consistently delicious, and there is no topping peaceful time spent by the fireplace(s) watching the snow fall outside the windows. We are already planning a return trip. Relaxing, romantic and comfortable, a pure delight.

Although it is been unusually Arctic in the Berkshires, happy guests take the chill out of winter. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay and that we could make it a special one. We hope to see you again soon!

Nice New England setting .Perfect Lenox location . No choices for breakfast menu but excellent regardless . Could be too sugary for some but tasty and recipes are availble !! "Kiss my grits "was my favorite .Quinn the dog walking around the breakfasts tables and placing her head on your lap makes everything perfect !!

Laura, it was great to welcome you home to Birchwood Inn and to meet your lovely mother. Quinn loved her lap! Please note that even though the menu may not show choices, if you let me know ahead of time, I am always happy whenever possible to accommodate special requests, such as scrambled eggs in place of a sweet breakfast. I happen to love "Kiss My Grits," too! Come back for more!

This is my first review for TA. In fact I've registered here at TA, specifically to tell you how wonderful the Birchwood Inn is. Simply put - it's wonderful! Terri and Roger are so friendly. Roger makes the best omelets for breakfast, Terri recommended a terrific restaurant for dinner (Alta - must go). If you're visiting Lenox, stay at the Birchwood, you will be happen you did.

We needed to get away for a romantic weekend. I made the reservations, selecting one of the larger rooms with a working fireplace. The room was great, including the large bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the fireplace came in handy on our second night. We were both impressed with the size of the library and the selection of books.
The breakfasts were wonderful. We were out both afternoons so we missed the teas that were offered. The staff was very helpful, including helping us get our bags up to the room.
We enjoyed it so much that we're planning on returning when our schedule allows.

Room Tip: We had room 4, one of the more expensive ones and very much enjoyed it.

What could be more romantic than a wood-burning fire! We are so pleased it enhanced to your weekend and that our library added to your stay. We are all looking forward to your return visit!

We stayed at the Birchwood Inn for two nights in very late October. It was our first visit, and we are already looking forward to returning!

Terri, the assistant innkeeper, was friendly, energetic, and very helpful with restaurant recommendations. We loved the cider and cookies in the afternoon, served in the beautiful and inviting library. (By the way, the library is stocked with books one might actually want to read, from Dickens and Proust to John P. Marquand and Philip Roth. Sadly, this is not something to be taken for granted in bed-and-breakfast libraries.) The breakfasts were delicious and ample even for hearty appetites. The inn seems very pet-friendly, but I am allergic to both dogs and cats and did not have the slightest symptom during my two-day stay.

It is an easy walk to the core of Lenox and all of the attractions there. We had a wonderful time, and I recommend the inn very highly.

Room Tip: We were given the Dewey Room, which is large, attractive, and equipped with a fireplace. The unoccup...

I was on vacation during your stay and am so happy that Terri and Roger made your stay memorable. Not only are the books in the library ones that you would actually read, they have all been read at least once! Thank you for taking the time to let us know how much you enjoyed your stay, and I look forward to meeting you when you come home to Birchwood Inn in the future.

This is a beautiful, elegant B&B with lots of comfortable common space. I arrived early and was able to see a number of the rooms. They are all beautifully decorated, with exceptionally clean bathrooms. I was attending early morning sessions at Kripalu, so I can't comment on the breakfasts. They do have a small kitchen for guests to make their own tea and coffee, and offered late night snacks. They also have a small refrigerator and a cabinet to keep your own food. I stayed in room 6. It is a small room, and it was perfect for my needs. All other rooms on the second floor are spacious and inviting. The location is great for convenience and quiet nights.

Our stay at the Birchwood Inn was a pleasant one and it was convenient for the three places we wanted to visit in the Berkshires. Norman Rockwell Museum, The Mount and Hancock Shaker Village. We received a warm welcome from Ellen when we arrived with tea and cookies in the library. This and the veranda are lovely areas to relax in when you return to the Inn.
Our room however was in the Carraige House annex and was disappointing. It was cold, dark and damp, in spite of the weather being warm for early October. We had to use the heating as the room didn't seem to get any natural sunlight. The decor was in need of a spruce up and the roller blinds were stained and didn't work properly. The shower room was small and had an unpleasant smell. Also there was no hanging space other than an open rail in the lobby by the front door.
The breakfasts were good and drinks and snacks available any time from the butler's pantry.
It is a short walk down the hill to shops and several good restaurants.

Room Tip: Look carefully at the web-site and choose a room in the main house.

While I am delighted that you found us warm and welcoming, I am sorry that you found your guestroom lacking. Your Carriage House room, one of our most popular rooms, is situated in a rock garden, facing north. While most guests find that cozy, you would have preferred a room with more direct sunlight. Our staff and I could not find any dampness or odor nor any stains or problems with the roller blinds. If we did, we would take care of this immediately. The closet is the space by the door, with the closet door removed to provide more room. We do hope that a future stay will be more satisfactory for you.
