The atmosphere, elegance and cuisine made this a phenomenal dining experience. Not pretentious, very European feel, and fantastic flavors.

“Pretentious, Overpriced and Flavorless Meal”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2013

Made a reservation for the formal dining room, but waited for over half an hour for a table only to be seated all by ourselves in the Library area. We felt the staff was snooty and pretentious, the server/maitre de commented on my order - and @ $125 for the four course meal she should have kept her food pretentious to herself. The food was a throwback to the haute cuisine of the 80's small portions all dressed up with no place to go! The food was ordinary and covered with some foamy sauce that neither I or my husband cared for. We felt like we weren't invited to this "Downton Abbey" dinner and they weren't pleased we stopped by! Skip this place! There are better meals and attitudes in the Berkshires, try the Blantyre or the Cranwell for better food and nicer servers.

“SIMPLY SUBLIME”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 26, 2013

The food, service, ambiance, staff, wine list and setting are all truly divine. Yes it is expensive, but it is not significantly more than many other much more inferior restaurants in the area. I love having lunch in the library. We usually save dinner for special occasions.

“5 star”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 25, 2013

Beautiful Inn, in the heart of the Berkshires.
Great food and probably would receive 6 stars if there was that rating.
You can walk to Tanglewood or just sit out and enjoy a view that is spellbinding.
It resembles an Inn we saw in western Ireland.
This one was built by an Italian businessman and he paid attention to detail.

“Be prepared to pay for the very best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2013

As part of my overnight stay I was able to enjoy a delicious lunch, an amazing dinner and an excellent breakfast at this five diamond restaurant. While the food and cost was consistent with my expectations, the service was somewhat less than on point. My lunch server was a delightful young lady from South Korea who had been there for one year and was able to direct some of the new help who made some inexperienced moves. However, everyone was eager to please and left me with a very positive impression.

If only they would replace the large glass pane in the dinning room window where the seal failed. This was a distraction at lunch and breakfast while in the Dining Room
.
For dinner, the Spring Salad gets an "A", the Pasta Rings a "B" while the Lamb Saddle rates at "A+"

I was also pleased that the prices were inclusive of service changes which made the $125 four course dinner easy to understand. Even breakfast which totaled more than $40 seemed reasonable when compared to $45-$50 for the same selection at a Ritz hotel.
