“Salty, ordinary”
Reviewed March 24, 2014

Nothing special, despite the well kept inside appearance. (Parking lot needs to be re-paved - badly.) The food was too salty and all tasted the same. The veggie steamed dumplings were tasty but gelatinous. Sesame tofu was tasteless.

“Very disappointing - but passable”
Reviewed October 18, 2013

We have loved a number of Polynesian themed Chinese restaurants - many similar in look and feel to Luau Hale - and were really looking forward to eating here on our visit to Lenox. Sadly, we were very disappointed.

The egg rolls were good, the spring rolls were OK, and the spare ribs were actually excellent. But everything that was actually created in the kitchen ranged from eh to awful. None of the dishes that were supposed to be hot had any heat at all. And the non-spicy dishes were more or less flavorless as well.

On the drink side, the scorpion bowl was passable but the mai tai was rather nasty. Which is sad - "Polynesian" drinks are supposed to be one of the high points of these restaurants.

All in all, if I was visiting for a week and craved Chinese I would come here again - particularly now that I better understand how to order. But if you just have a weekend in the Berkshires, there are many, many better places to eat.

“Chinese food that won't disappoint”
Reviewed October 17, 2013

Upon entering this spacious place I was put off by the absence of any Chinese staff, but was pleasantly surprised by the quality and portions of the food. We started with the spring rolls, which were delivered promptly tasted fine...I had the seafood combination, steamed, and was again surprised by a large piece of lobster along with the scallops and shrimp. Dish could easily have served two. Luau Hale is definitely worth a visit if you're in the mood for a satisfying Chinese meal.

“Excellent Food”
Reviewed April 12, 2013

Visited here about a month ago. It was so good and the lunch specials are priced so reasonable that I went back again yesterday. Each time with three different friends. All of us enjoyed our food. The first time I ordered General Tsao's Chicken $8. It was so good, I ordered it again the second visit. I have had it at other places and have been very disappointed.
One friend ordered the Beef & Broccoli. He said it was very good and that the beef was tender.
The interior needs updating but can be overlooked for the great food.
One criticism I do have is about the waitresses. Both times we had a waitress that was irritable and unfriendly.

“Can't say enough good about Luau Hale!”
Reviewed February 18, 2013

Have eaten here so many times, and always enjoy what they make! If you like Polynesian food, get the Pupu Platter (whether for one or two) you'll love it! Fine atmosphere!
