The reservation for the Whistler Inn was made for a last minute getaway. It was priced fairly well compared to others; however, most places were booked because of a popular concert at Tanglewood that weekend. The actual Inn is very charming, nestled in greenery and planted on a big lot. Lots of old world charm inside with a lot of antiques, old furniture, and paintings. The Inn only had one room available on the discounted website which was called the petite chambre. Petite is a very good choice of words considering it was difficult to move around in the room with two people and the bed was a full which made for a sleepless night. On a positive note, it did have a bathroom in the room whereas the same sized room across the hall did not and the room was very clean. The room was not part of the main inn, but accessible only by a porch on the left side of the house which was nice because it was as if we had our own secluded cabin. We were told that all the doors around the perimeter would be locked except for the main inn door. Although, the door to access our section was open all night. The tv did not work either, but we figured we wouldn’t bother anyone since we were there to relax.

There is parking for two small cars on the left side of the inn (but the first space has a lot of overgrown bushes occupying much of it) and about three to four cars spaces on the right side, but you are allowed to park on the street. We were greeted by the owner’s daughter who was pleasant. She did not ask about our reservation until about ten minutes after asking us several questions, where we were from, why did we choose to come this particular area, what we had planned to do in the area, etc.

There is a cemetery across the street with an old church, but I found it to be just part of the old Lenox charm. The breakfast was good and comparable to most Inns. Staying at the Inn again would be considered only if a bigger bed was a choice.

The excellent service, old world ambiance and location was spoilt by the size of the room. It might be OK if visiting one night with limited luggage or as a single traveler. Our room was small and cluttered.

If you want a characterful and historic B & B with engaging and hospitable hosts, Whistler's Inn is definitely worth a visit. The property reflects a bygone era, being full of antiques, paintings and artefacts that create a unique ambience. Our bedroom was perfectly adequate for our 2 night stay, the breakfast was plentiful and delicious with a number of home-made options. We were made to feel very welcome throughout our stay and would certainly return if we were in the area again.

I stayed here 20 years ago and remembered having a wonderful experience then. Lisa, Richard and Jane, still make the expereinece a true delight, as they did in the past. They serve a sumptuous breakfast, with all sorts of home made goodies and even brandy is available for a night cap in the parlor. There are many interesting sitting rooms, filled with shelves of books and antiques galore. The view from the outdoor patio is filled with trees and flowers, to make dining outside a wonderful experience.

I wish the bed could have been a little more comfortable to sleep, as I prefer a firmer mattress. I would have liked to open the windows at night and not use the A/C, as it was cool enough to have a fresh air breeze. There could have been a better wireless connection, except for one area in the dining room.

Their kind hopsitality makes the stay a pleasure, as well as the innkeepers desire to make your visit as comfortable as possible. They share stories, history of the area and places to visit. Richard is also an experienced traveler and author. He has his books displayed in the entry, which are also available to purchase. I would recommend the inn, as the charm, hospitality and value, make up for the issues I had, that can be amended.. A true delight!

I am not an experienced Bed and Breakfast traveler, but wanted to give it a try. This Inn is in Lenox, which is a town brimming with B+B options at all prices.
The family who owns and runs this inn are delightful and put forth a wonderful breakfast, but the single person who has to manage it all is at times a bit overwhelmed with taking care of cooking, coffee, clearing, and displaying all the breakfast items. I could be assured of many choices and a very social setting every morning.
My bed had an old mattress, sagging a bit, which was hard on my back. The room was located out of the way but a very loud screen door seemed to be used frequently. It had a private bath, but down the hall. This would not have been a good room for a large person or maybe even two people; it is very tiny. There are larger rooms and options upstairs.
There is an overall rustic feel - large cobweb in the corner of my bedroom, wobbly drawers, indoor-outdoor carpet, antique furniture that adds more of a museum/shop feel than organized decorating, removed hardware from door jams with holes painted over without patching, etc. This is not the upscale B+B that one might expect. But it is clean, adequate, walking distance to town, and very affordable. Many nooks for sitting and reading and a large library. Phone in room, but no plug/service, very poor internet connectivity,
