After one night in a horrible motel and spending my first day of my August 2010 vacation trying to find a better facility, I resigned myself to spending far more than I wanted to and stayed here. Apparently, the Berkshires accommodations are either cheap dumps or over-priced hotels with pricing similar to prima locations in some major cities.
The good news is that the front desk was extremely sympathetic and helpful (unusually so for a chain hotel), and the room was clean, blissfully quiet, rather large, with a fridge, and free internet. The lap desk was a nice touch.
It's an interesting approach having a casual tables/chairs set up in the lobby. No place for lounging, but my aunt and I did enjoy the free coffee and playing Bananagrams on the tables!
The gripes: The breakfasts are available for a very limited time-- I never did get a hot breakfast, even when I came down around 9 or 9:30 a.m. The pool is tiny and filled with the elderly or children so not usable for laps, and the three token exercise machines do not qualify as a fitness centre anywhere outside of a private home. The mirrors in the rooms are located in odd places; you can't check your outfit before you go out.
Bottom line: a good chain hotel, but overpriced for what you get, particularly since it's several kilometres outside of town.
