If you don't know what to expect, I can understand why some folks might be disappointed, but for those of us familiar with Hot Dog Annie's history and grew up on these smaller dogs, it's all part of the experience.
This small roadside shack seems like the type of place you'd see on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dive's. It's Cash Only and you walk in one door and immediately out the other, as there's little more room than to allow you to stand single file between the counter and the back wall. The dog you want to order is their special BBQ dog. Dogs and buns are grilled and the sweet secret recipe BBQ sauce is delicious. The dogs are small, yes, but that's part of the charm (and they're relatively cheap...like a buck and change each). They also have their own brand of bottled root beer and cream soda.
If you're in the area, swing by this "different" sort of place. I grew up on the stuff during the summers, but for a newbie traveling through it's at least worth a quick pit stop to see what all the fuss is about.
Good dogs, good people.
