“Perfect stop for homemade ice.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2012 via mobile

Quaint & colorful decor. The ices are hand made with real fruit in ice. The owner and staff were both friendly and helpful.

“Great sandwiches!”

This place is great! Awesome sandwiches, italian ice (the real kind), and great staff! I will certainly be back next visit to lee and/or the outlets!

“Housatonic Cafe is awesome!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 11, 2012

Having booked a timeshare in East Lee, Massachusetts, we set out exploring the area. After a day of great fun, we spotted a bright yellow and pink restaurant in the town of Lee that was a restored home and decided that was the place for a late lunch! As we entered I was very impressed at how clean it was--a big point for me, indeed! The wooden floors and simple decor was appealing and the subs were wonderful! I chose "The Wildcat" which offered roast beef, cheese, tomato and touch of horseradish sauce of sour dough bread. YUM! Hubby had the High on the Hog which featured ham, sioressattam, cheese etc. We enjoyed chatting with the owner who sat down and made us feel like we were old friends. Our only regret was we didn't save room for one of the Pomelos which are hand made artisan Italians ices. We did get a small sample and they are delicious! If you're looking for a great meal plus friendly atmosphere, this is the place for you!

“Go here! Go here!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 15, 2012

WOW. Instead of stopping at a reststop (blech) or out the Lee Outlets (eh), we found this FANTASTIC sandwich shop. Some of the best sandwiches we've ever had...anywhere. Not only were the sandwiches great, but the homemade Italian ice was excellent and the place was clean and spotless. The owner was friendly and personable, and you can tell he takes a tremendous amount of pride in his shop. Not only will this be our new "reststop", but we just may go out of our way to eat here again.

“Great find!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 21, 2012

We pulled off the Mass Pike for lunch, not really sure where we wanted to go. The Housatonic Cafe with it's bright sign was just up the road and looked like a good place to try.
The building has been renovated and looks great- the inside is very clean with small rooms containing several tables in each. The owner found a table for us and explained the menu. They have a nice choice of sandwiches you can order off the menu, or you can design your own. They make all the sandwiches fresh, and they even sell the meat in their deli. Also available was soup and small pizzas. Coffee and tea plus a variety of fine cold drinks was available. They also make and sell a variety of Italian Ice. We didn't get to try any but they looked wonderful and next time we will make it a point to try one or two.
