This building is made from the same local marble -- the quarry is on Marble Street -- that went into the Lincoln Memorial. The main courtroom is especially attractive, but for me the main attraction is the Civil War memorial, listing the names of the many men from this small town who gave their lives fighting for the Union. Particularly moving, for those who know the history (and have seen the film "Glory" or the St. Gaudens monument in the Boston Commons, is the fact that there are citizens from Lee who served in the 54th Massachusetts Regiment and were killed at Battery Wagner, South Carolina (the climactic scene of "Glory"). All this is inscribed on the memorial.
