Description: Alberto's Ristorante was established in 1984 at which time, Northern Italian cuisine and fresh homemade pasta were introduced to Cape Cod for the first time. Since then, we have continued this tradition of all fresh ingredients and in-house preparation of every course from the soups to the desserts. Our reputation for casual elegance arises from our emphasis on decor, service, the pride we take in food preparation, and our affordability. Over the years, we have received rave reviews from food critics from the Cape Cod Times, The Boston Globe, The Boston Herald, Cape Cod Life Magazine, Fodor's, AAA, and New York Times critic James Beard for "...exquisite Northern Italian cuisine". Our lounge is the perfect setting for a before dinner cocktail, an after dinner espresso, or an even more casual meal. .

We took advantage of the "early special". Since reading reviews, the times and costs of the special appear to have changed. When we visited, they offered the 3-course meal for $24.95 from 11:30 (open) til 5:45. Opted to sit outside on a sunny afternoon at about 4:00pm. We were the only ones sitting on the patio at that time, and we saw no one inside during restroom breaks. The front of the room was communicating with staff for assignments, though we did also see some leaning going on out in the dining areas.

Won't comment on the atmosphere as I didn't really pay attention to the interior. In general, things appeared clean. In the restrooms, there is an optional salt provided by a local retailer that you can use to clean your hands. Tried it and it did indeed make my hands soft as it claimed. Nice little touch.

Our waitress was pleasant enough, but not quite as attentive as we would have liked. Orders were accurate and reasonable in timeliness.

Received warm bread (only partially sliced) and olive oil for dipping. Eh.

For apps, we got the Caesar Salad, which was average at best. Despite describing it coming with anchovies, I saw none. We also got the Farcite Napoletana - a rolled and stuffed eggplant dish which was very good.

For entrees, we ordered the Chicken Parm and substituted the penne for angel hair. This was a good rendition. Also got the Cannelloni which had nice flavor, but was heavy on the pine nuts and very light on the spinach. I felt the steamed broccoli on the side didn't really go with the cannelloni and there was a rather large amount of it.

Desserts were very good. Both the Tiramisu and Chocolate Mousse were served with a decadent dollop of homemade whipped cream.

Despite ordering off the prix fixe menu, the selections were plentiful (including any dessert off the menu), and we were treated well. Other menu pricing seemed pricier than what we were looking for, so without the special we would not have dined here.

Two dinner specials, one glass of wine and a soda, with tax and tip, was under $78. Reasonable for what we got. Would recommend the prix fixe afternoon pricing.

While visiting the Cape this month for our anniversary we planned to have a special dinner. Based on other reviews we chose this restaurant. Although I seldom write negative reviews, I want to share our experience. We waited quite a long time for our food although it was not busy. When it came it was almost cold except for one side dish. The bread was cold, the entrees had no flavor. The waiter was rude and disinterested, removing items from the table without asking while reaching over us to do so. He seemed in a hurry for us to leave. This was only one issue with the service but to sum it up the entire experience was poor, the prices much too high for the food served. We are from NY and are used to expensive restaurants but not for this poor quality of food and service.

The rain poured so we found the 1st restaurant with parking - table for 4 no problem - all the pasta was excellent - the dessert completely over the top : the waiter seemed to be in a rush which changed when I pointed out that the restaurant was half full and we were in no rush : seems service is often forgotten when you are a tourist should never judge a book by it's cover - we had a nice meal and a good change from huge portions just like mamma just to make !

Went here with a party of four and the place was well rec'd by all. All orders were for the Chicken Parmagiana and it was quite good. The inside was a bit upscalish and we had wished that we chose to dine out on the sidewalk as it was a beautiful breezy day and their outdoor dining on Main St. seemed pretty spacious. Would definitely recommend. Money Saving Tip to all T.A. users: if you Google "Deadline Deals Cape Cod" a link will come up for a Cape Radio station Pixy 103 and they have a link of several Hyannis restaurants, including Albertos, where you can purchase and print a $50 Gift Certificate for $25. It's good until the end of 2014 and it looks like by august that $50 Gift certificate can be purchased for close to 75% off. I'm usually a little sketchy about restaurants who are part of these offers, but Alberto's is a really nice place and well worth it.
