We have been going to Hakes for over 25 years. I have pictures of my sons standing beside the wooden fishermen statue when they were that height - sons are both in their late twenties now. Go there every year and LOVE the place. This year I ordered a calamari salad and the calamari were so good, we ordered another dish of them. lightly battered and fried -- we eat calamari all over the country -- Jake's is the best.

It's on the water, so lobster and a good drink,,what's not to like.
Many items are overpriced for what you get, but this is quickly forgotten when seated @ a table on the water.

Definitely has a very "local" feel to it, but quite charming.

I am gluten intolerant and I was delighted to find out they could fry the seafood with a gluten free batter! I opted for the fish and chip (huge portion by the way) with a gluten free beer, i couldn't have been happier!

The restaurant overlooks the marina which is very nice at sunset. There is a terrasse, but they also have floor to ceiling windows which means you still have a great view from inside if you ask for a window table.

The service was good and the food wasn't too pricey (50$ pp including a bottle of wine)

The seafood is fresh but not exceptional. The prices are on the high side of moderate. You are paying a premium for the location (near Nantasket Beach) and for their reputation. In addition, this is a very popular spot during the summer and you may have a long wait before getting seated. The servers are friendly and helpful. Overall, I would go back when meeting friends in that area but I would not make a special trip to go there.

Wonderful food, expensive wine, great staff. If you don't mind a potentially very long wait (no reservations accepted), you will love the food.
