The Hot Stove was a place first visited by my husband and myself randomly back in April when we were in Harwichport looking for a summer place to rent. We stopped in for a quick lunch and liked it then. Over the past week while staying in town we twice visited for lunch and sampled several items on the menu and are now big fans of the place! We wandered in one uncrowded afternoon and sat at the bar where we drank delicious Bloody Marys, vodka for him, gin for me and shared a delicious and satisfying bowl of Portuguese fisherman's stew! It was in a light tomato broth and loaded with a variety of fish as promised, one of the best I have ever eaten! The next time we came was a very rainy afternoon and the place was very crowded and we had our eighteen month old grandson with us. The staff handled the crowd very well, our wait was the length promised, and our service was very good in spite of it all! And again, the food was outstanding! With no children's' menu, we ordered macaroni and cheese for the baby, and it was a hit! I had a great chicken salad sandwich on toasted marble rye with Hot Stove's signature potato chips and my husband had arguably one of the best hot pastrami sandwiches ever with fried zucchini sticks. WE had a leisurely lunch while watching the rain and the crowd outside from the window. The baseball decor is fun and interesting and the staff is also friendly and efficient. Hot Stove is a great neighborhood place to visit!
