“Where is my Hampton Inn Bed?”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 25, 2012

My daughter and I stayed here while visiting area colleges. The staff was super friendly, very helpful and the breakfast area was lovely with beautiful fireplace sitting area. Breakfast was quite good. The location is terrific and convenient to the 5 colleges, good restaurants are with in 3 minutes drive. We stayed in the handicap accessible room, as it was the only one available for the days of our visit. The bed was very uncomfortable, old and not the typical Hampton Inn signature bed. The carpet was dirty and had a terrible door, which we complained about, but short of replacing it, I'm not sure what could have been done. There was little privacy on the first floor room, as the curtains wouldn't stay closed. The bathroom was adequate but needed modernizing. I'm a Hampton Inn fan, but not of this one. It just needs much updating to meet the Hampton Inn standard. Perhaps their are other rooms that are nicer, but they were booked up and we were unable to switch rooms. The location can't be beat, so if you can find a decent room, stay here. Beware of strange doors though!

Room Tip: Unless mandatory, do not take the "accessible" room on first floor

Thank you for taking the time to write a review for the Hampton Inn – Hadley/Amherst. We are always eager to hear what our guests have to say about their stays.
I am thrilled you liked the breakfast! It is my favorite thing about Hampton Inns. However, I feel horrible you did not enjoy a good nights sleep. It is very unusual for us to receive complaints about our beds, but I know from personal experience beds are to each persons' taste! I have horrible nights' sleep away from home and my husband sleeps like a log and wants to bring the bed home with us! I have had our maintenance department take a look at the mattress for more than normal wear-and-tear and at the carpet to prescribe the best cleaning method.
I thank you once again for your feedback. It is through dedicated guests like yourself that we can strive for greater satisfaction. We hope to see you back again!

The Hampton Inn was a great base to use to explore the Hadley-Amherst area. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful, the staff was very helpful (they moved us to a better room after the first night), the beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean and well-cared for.

We were on a college visiting trip -- family of 4. Usual clean, nice Hampton accommodations, good breakfast. Nice vacation, but I needed to have a video-conference for work in the early afternoon of the day we checked out, and needed a wired internet connection (not wireless, which is available everywher). The hotel assistant manager, Ryan, was very accommodating, and let us have an incredibly late checkout so that I could have the business conference in a quiet room with no interruptions.

If our kid ends up in school in this area, I know where we wil stay whenever we visit.....

We spent two nights at the Hampton Inn Hadley-Amherst the first weekend of April. We actually picked it because of it's proximity to Northampton -- it's only about 1.5 miles from downtown.

The hotel staff is wonder and the hotel is in excellent condition. The bedding is fabulous and oh-so-comfortable! Rooms were exceptionally clean. Breakfast was very nice with waffles, eggs, potatoes, meat, oatmeal, yogurt, cereal, fruit & breads -- something for everyone.

Only complaint is creaking floors! We were on the second floor and we could hear the people above us anytime they walked. Woke us up in the morning, and I'm sure they weren't being overly loud -- it's just that the floors creak so badly. We will definitely stay there again - but we will definitely request a room on the 3rd floor next time!

Room Tip: Third floor -- third floor -- third floor!!!!!!!!!!!!

This Hampton gets top marks in the region even though it is closer to Northampton(5 minutes) than to Amherst(10 minutes). Well off RT 9, in fact, behind a small strip mall, about 1 mile east of I 91, once in the parking lot the Hampton appears bright and relatively new. The halls are well lit and pleasant, and the rooms are well outfitted with white comforter(s), a slim screen HD TV, coffee maker and a well lit bathroom with a contemporary feel. Why then do some of my fellow reviewers call the rooms "old" or "tired" Decor, that's why. Instead of putting the now de-riquer foot spread across the bottom of the bed for color, the bed is covered only in a woven white bedspread. The bed backrest, a curved(SLING Style), is medium oak, as is the handsome mirror across from it. Nightables and desk are medium cherry, giving the room, despite contemporary Hampton prints, a helter skelter old feeling.
The furniture is intact, however, without scratches or holes. The other decor oddity is the fabric used on the sofa in our king study/sofa room. An orangy gold with red stripes, it fights the deep red carpet, as does the bedskirt. Too bad, because the room is quite comfortable, as is the excellent bed(not too pillow toppy), and the wall engaged thermostat works quite well. The TV has plenty of channels including HBO, the water temperature in the nicely papered bathroom is fine and Hampton toiletries are good and include shower caps and a vanity pact, There is continuous coffee and a selection of good teas avaiiable at all hours, and decent chocoalat chip cookies in late afternoon. There is a night lite in the bathroom, an amenity much overlooked, and ear plugs in the bedroom. We were across from the elevator and heard nothing. Our son, in the room next door, claims he heard us, however(We were arguing, not making love, unfortunately). Front desk staff were friendly and informative, plus there are dozens of restaurant menus at the front desk. Breakfast was the now expanded Hampton Inn kind with hot chafing dishes, fresh self service waffles, fruit and the usual breads, muffins and pound cake, hot and cold cereal, juices, and yogurt. The server was efficient and helpful. All good, basic, comfortable, attributes.

For those gourmands out there with exotic tasks, there is both Moroccan and Tibetian food in Northampton, as well Vietnamese in Amherst, along with the more common Indian, Thai, Japanese, and of course, Chinese restaurants.

This is a very nice hotel near the 5 College area with a great breakfast, free internet, indoor pool and very good value for the price paid, Would stay here again when visiting the area. Rooms are comfortable - nothing special, but clean and good value
