“Nice surprise!”

As a solo traveler, it was difficult to justify the prices of local B&B's, and even "budget" chains. Stumbled across this gem Friday night. The owner (Hasu) was very welcoming, and he graciously changed my room when asked since the neighboring room was a little loud.. Keep in mind, this is a Motel, not the four seasons. That said, it is clean, comfortable, and welcoming. I'd stay again :)

My friend and I stayed for two nights. We liked the looks of a "mom and pop" type of place, not a chain. We found the room and bathroom very clean, fresh smelling and spacious. The mattress' were extremely comfortable and the light breakfast a plus. For the cost of the room it all summed up to a lovely stay in a lovely area. The owner was most helpful with my friend's wi fi device. She was having trouble getting connected and they put a "booster" device in the room to get her connected more quickly. We truly appreciated this. The owner was a very helpful and friendly man. We had a very enjoyable and comfortable stay and would, without a doubt, stay again.

Room Tip: I really cannot say. We stayed facing the office and found it very quite and near the breakfast room...

Everything was clean and well-maintained. Lantern House is an older mom-and-pop-style motel that has been partly modernized. Our room, for example, had older pine paneling on the lower portion of the walls, paint above, but A/C/heater is a brand-new window unit. Bathroom had older pink wall tiles, but brand-new floor tiles and tub/shower area. Owner is apparently remodeling in segments, but everything is obviously well-kept. If you want a hair dryer or ironing board, just ask Hasu, who was a gracious and accommodating owner/host. Our room had a fridge with freezer and a microwave. Breakfast was limited to Little Debbie muffins, three cereal options, bagels/cream cheese, milk, juice, coffee, tea. Our room had three windows that we could open for fresh air. The salt-water swimming pool was tempting, but autumn air temps were just a bit too chilly to swim. You can walk to shops and restaurants. Route 7 is a busy road. We liked Room 15, which was set back a bit from traffic whizzing by.

We have checked 4 motels in the area and this was the best for the space and money. Rooms are dated but cosy and owner is a nice person to deal with. Specially his wife was very helpful with landing a charger and helping with dinner advise. Breakfast is simple but nicely pre-packed bagels and muffins. We were happy with our choice.

I had a one-night stay at the Lantern House this past summer during the height of the tourist season. I found a true old-fashioned motor hotel, where one can drive right up to the front door. The room was spacious and well-appointed, with a small fridge and a microwave (convenient for re-heating the massive lobster roll I'd purchased earlier that day). The owner was a lovely man, who made certain to put me in a room right next to the friends I was meeting. The property is lovely, with a little gazebo out front and a large play area for children in the back. Right next door is a fabulous donut shop. I look forward to saying there on my next trip to the heart of New England.

My two visits this summer were months apart and consisted of weekend stays, on requiring two rooms and the other requiring three rooms. In both cases the facility and the service were the exceptional level I have come to expect from the Lantern House. This time they had an attractive new fence on one side of the property. They seem to always be improving the facility.

I recently spent 6 nights in this well run, clean motel that is less than 2 miles from downtown Great Barrington. My room, although dated in decor, was clean, had a great shower and the bonus of a mini fridge and microwave. There was a super market I could walk to to get some basics for early AM or when I did not want to dine out. The management could not have been more accommodating and accessible. The mattress was excellent and something that is important to me.
