I consider myself a foody. I work in the industry and I love to eat. So yesterday I was taking my mother and daughter out to lunch and we decided to try Cafe Adam. Upon arriving the resturant is beautiful, trendy but that's when the nice ends. We were seated back by the kitchen and forgotten. 3 people got 2 menus. My daughter may be seven but she never eats from a childrens menu. Finally after ten minutes we were greeted by the hostess and asked if we wanted a drink. Sure, but can we see a wine list? Five min later she's back to see if we want to order, um any specials? She had to go look at special board three times to recite them. Now my red flag went up a long time ago but I was willing to ignore it. NOT NOW. We left! Sorry Cafe Adam, your menu looks amazing but your staff can't carry it out.

We've been to Cafe Adam many times. It's great if you are in a group of four or fewer. The wait staff can't handle larger groups and seem annoyed that your group is over four even if you've made a reservation. Don't ask for the table (seats six) on the left side behind a barrier. One is truly forgotten there. The waiter (surly) or waitress (forgetful) never seem to show up. Coffee isn't refilled, no one checks that your group might need something. It takes forever to order if they give you a menu; meanwhile, the tables with two or four people in the center of the restaurant get good service while you wait. The food continues to be very good. We've never eaten a bad mean there, but when we come with a group the service is poor.

Cafe Adam is a small restaurant that is a true gem. The staff is inviting and well trained. The decor is cozy and warm; a great place to sit with family and have a great meal. The food is well prepared; typical chef-owner run. His wife runs the front of the house and if very accommodating. While we've had great meals here, last night's fare was a bit on the salty side. Overall, always a pleasure.

We phoned Cafe Adam last MLK weekend for reservations on a Saturday night and were told over the phone that they do not accept reservations. We then drove there and were notified that they could not accomodate a group of 4 adults and 3 children between the ages of 9 and 15. The restaurant was three quarters empty at the time. I can only assume that they do not cater to skiiers, parties of 7, or both.

We headed across the street to the Barrington Brewery for some great beer and filling, sloppy food.

We live in the Berkshires and appreciate the restaurant offerings in the region. Having said that, Cafe Adam continues to be our favorite. Adam and his team have created a restaurant that manages to be both casual and "special," and both local and eclectic. In the Berkshires' off-season, specials keep the locals coming, while innovative preparations entice tourists as well. Every dish has great flavor and appealing presentation. Atmosphere always feels homey, whether one is in jeans and sweaters or dress-up attire. The hosts and servers are friendly, humorous, yet always appropriate and knowledgeable. We love Cafe Adam!
