Description: We at Route 7 Grill are proud to be providing fresh, local food to our Berkshire neighbors and friends. All of our meats are naturally raised from local farms or small family farms. We hope that our close relationship with these farmers have some positive effect in preserving local farming traditions. Everything we serve, including stocks, soups, dressings & desserts are made here from scratch. Our philosophy is inspired by Berkshire Grown, as well as the farm-to-table movement. The restaurant, nestled in the Housatonic river valley of the Southern Berkshires offers a full service dining room and full bar. We're located on historic Route 7 south of Great Barrington in the shadow of June Mountain We also offer a second dining room concept - including Raw Bar, Charcuterie & Tasting menus. We have often stopped by the Route & Grill on our way to or from Great Barrington and we never seemed to be there when it was open. We finally got a chance to eat there. The restaurant is really cute inside. There's a fireplace and some very interesting art on the walls. Our waitress was very nice.

The food was just ok. I'm a big fan of BBQ. The pulled pork was not the best. You have to request sauces and then you just get small cups. I did like the sweet potato fries. The mac n' cheese was thermonuclear and tasteless.

Congenial and attractive atmosphere.
The ribs were substandard.
The high prices are way out of whack.

Hello Scott,
I'm glad you like the atmosphere of Route 7 Grill!!
We go to lengths to supply our customers with better than standard quality meats (whether locally sourced or small family farms raised the "right" way) We strive to purchase heritage breeds wherever possible as well. This typically means higher prices unfortunately but not always.

I'd love additional feedback from you about the ribs and about the prices.
What did/didn't you like about the ribs (btw our best selling item as well as being award winning) and which pricing did you feel was not a good value?

Shoot me an email - lester@route7grill.com or please call me at 413 528 3235

Thank you.
Sincerely,
Lester

Exciting find when we googled "farm to table Lee, MA" - we drove 2 hrs. North to meet up with good friends who were driving 2 hrs. South - Now we all belong to the Route 7 Grill "clean plate club!" Warm & welcoming, this family & neighborhood focused restaurant's menu is strongly rooted in local & seasonal sourcing and serves up tasty food with a homemade flair for simple and delicious. From cornbread, to kale chips and BBQ this is a must know about place to eat when you travel in or near the Southern Berkshire area - located on historic Rt. 7, just off I-90 or Rt. 22. We can't wait to enjoy a meal outdoors on the patio when the snow melts - but for now make it your go to apres ski spot and warm up fireside with fire, smoke & spirits! Support Slow Food, keep it local - and make sure to give a big high five to Lester and the team!!!

I have dined at Route 7 Grill on a number of different occasions - with friends, family, girlfriend-now-fiance - and the meal has never failed to please. Not your average bbq joint, the ingredients used are exclusively from local purveyors. You can really taste the difference in quality.

I must say that if you are looking for an ultra-cheap roadside bbq, you will be surprised, pleasantly, by the higher-end atmosphere. Though not at all stuffy, the restaurant is nicely appointed with full bar and roaring fireplace for the winter months. Similarly, the fare is decidedly top notch, yet the prices remain reasonable and portions are generous. Kale chips and calamari are great to start with, and from there, it is difficult to make a mistake with the entree menu. The brisket is wonderful and the "bangers and mash" is a favorite, as the local sausage used changes from time to time and is always delicious. And of course, you can't go wrong with the burger.

Aside from the great food, the service has always been excellent. Every time I have been, the owner has checked in to see how we were doing, and the wait staff is both prompt and friendly.

I could go on and on, but please do try this place. It is only a 2 minute drive from the center of Great Barrington, and in my opinion, the best place to eat in the area, whether you are in the mood for a unique and delicious culinary experience or comfortable and filling home-style barbeque.
