The staff were very helpful, always enjoy staying here. The bed was great. Wished they put comforters on the beds. The sheets were somewhat thin, had to go ask for extras. Bathroom was very nice, clean, and very spacious, really like that. Well kept grounds and the rooms are very spacious. Walking distance to a brewery across the street, and other amenities. Better deal price wise then what was in the area. Breakfast was a little late, but decent tasting, nothing to write home about. plus its free. Can't complain too much. The lobby bathroom was discusting, at 6:00 in the morning, i would expect the lobby to be spick and span, but that's just me. Overall, ill be staying here alot in the future. Very nice hotel.

The staff was very cordial and helpful. The "suite" was one big room with a red hot tub in the shape of lips in one corner. There were no utensils for cooking or eating, just a cork screw. You can hear water running from other rooms under the hot tub. The room was clean and the bed was ok. The service was good and the breakfast was decent, although it would have been better with more fresh fruit. The pan cake machine was broken most of the time.

We needed to stop on our trip back home from Boston. Unfortunately for us, it was a Saturday in Summer in the Berkshires. Which meant limited availability. Fair enough - I expect to pay more given we hit peak season bang-on. What I didn't expect after paying $300 before taxes for the last room they had available (suite) was then to get worn, stained and dirty furniture, a kitchenette area with stale food in the cabinets, torn sheets and really poor quality pillows. I specifically chose HIE as I've always had good experiences with them in the past. For $300 for the night I definitely expected much much better. We would have payed the same price to stay at the Red Lion. Granted we would have got a smaller room, twin beds (not a king) and a shared bathroom. But we would have been in the heart of Stockbridge and would have got the charm and history of the Red Lion. So really feel like HIE was grossly overcharging for the value they were offering - the last room available or not.

On the plus side our toddler adored the pool - it was just the right temperature for him (he gets cold easily). Breakfast was nice - but the pancake machine wasn't working.

Dear Susan M,

Thank you for writing a review about your recent stay with us. We work very hard to ensure our facilities and service are superior and we strive to be the best Holiday Inn Express around. We appreciate your nice comment regarding our swimming pool and the breakfast.

However, It sounds like we fell below your expectations especially on the rate, cleanliness of the furniture and the kitchenette. We take all reviews positive and negative very seriously, and your feedback will help us improve for our next guest or your next visit.

Sincerely,

Orlando A.

I stayed at the hotel with a friend and chose HIE based on the location in the Berkshires and easy access to our activities. All employees we met were friendly and helpful. The hotel was very neat and clean as well as the grounds. Our room was very nice, although I will say there was a club chair that had seen better days. There was a small fridge and a microwave which was very convenient. Bedding was nice and beds were comfortable. Our room was in the back of the hotel and had a nice view of trees and a small meadow. There is a very nice outside sitting area to enjoy the surroundings. The cost was reasonable considering we stayed for a long weekend and had the benefit of a less expensive Sunday night stay. If I did have to pick a negative, it is the cost. However, this is based on the fact it is an area with a lot of tourist traffic and not a lot of hotels to stay at (although there are a large number of Inns and B&B's). With that being said, I would stay there again based on my experience and the convenient location. Also, there is a quaint pub/restaurant across the street to grab a casual dinner or lunch.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is on the second floor and in the back of the hotel. (not facing the road)
