This beautiful and historic old building on the south side of Great Barrington is a landmark, but the really extraordinary features are inside. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the breakfasts creative and delicious, the authentic Victorian decor charming (there's an upside-down Christmas tree in the parlor during the holidays) -- and innkeepers Marja and Robert and breakfast cook Darryl sincerely want you to feel at home and know how to do it.
Various members of our large family had been staying in the inn during the last week of December, and the 27th was my daughter and my turn. We arrived after dinner. In the middle of the night we were both hit with a ferocious stomach bug that made it almost impossible to leave our king-sized (thank goodness) bed for about 30 hours. Without being the least bit intrusive, Marja took care of us like a mom. She brought us apple juice and crackers, bananas and ginger ale, and made a trip to the store for gatorade. She arranged for us to stay another night in the same room when we had been scheduled to move, without even being asked. And Darryl fixed us a special light breakfast the morning we left. It was such a nice feeling. We're forever grateful, and we're looking forward to coming back when we're able to eat!More
