The Briarcliff is well-located and is reasonably priced. The innkeepers are friendly, helpful and solicitous. The included breakfast is great. We also enjoy the whimsical decorating details. We have stayed here several times and look forward returning again.

This motel, set well back from the main road between Great Barrington and Stockbridge, capitalizes on the thriving ‘locavore’ movement in this area, with fabulous breakfasts of locally sourced dairy products, homemade granola, scones & cakes. Backed by woodlands and looking across to Monument Mountain, the motel is prettily situated and has stylish modern décor. A really charming place to stay.

We traveled for a Berkshire weekend with 3 kids and stayed at the Briarcliff for two nights. The place is more of a boutique, funky and cool hotel than a motel. The rooms were beautiful, spotless, and everything felt new yet warm and inviting. Richard and Clare are the nicest, most helpful hosts and they helped us arrange our day, going out of their way with reservations, hand written directions (exact to the inch!) and a great breakfast. Our son slept in one morning so Claire arranged a tray for us to take it to him in bed... That's hospitality! Highly recommended, awesome value for money and a great stay. Thanks David and Claire!

The rooms are tidy and the continental breakfast just the right touch. Good homemade granola to go over locally sourced yogurt, and a different muffin or scone each morning. Rich French-pressed coffee rounded things out, but tea is available at anytime. Lovely sitting room for reading the paper and plotting the day's outings, which should include a hike at Monument Mountain - literally down the street. The proprietors Clare and Richard are warm hosts quick to make reliable restaurant recommendations. Judging by the tunes playing in the morning, their music taste also is laudable. Overall, a refreshing and hospitable stay that was a far cry from some of the more fusty options I looked at when making our travel plans.

Motels don't normally appeal, however this one is much more than a motel, forget the standard road motel this is much more like a boutique hotel just a bit stretched out and with parking......There are so many nice quirky, fun and relaxing touches that makes The Briarcliff memorable and special. Comfortable rooms and beds, lovely hot showers, great location, excellent home made breakfast items and friendly helpful staff and owners.
