This landmark is deservedly a source of local pride. Recently renovated, the theater is a nice size—neither too big nor too small—and has a sense of intimacy. Contributing to the vibrant spirit of the place is that local residents serve as ushers and the lower level has an exhibit on the theater’s history.

We tried to buy front-row, side-section seats online but because that would leave a single seat in a row of three, the system wouldn’t allow the purchase. Instead I phoned and was assisted by very helpful and friendly staff, who helped me buy the tickets (if you have the same experience, online be sure to call). It was great to see the performers up close from the front row. If you’re sensitive to sound, you might wish to select seats further back and/or more centrally located. We were near a large speaker and depending on the performer, the sound could be too loud for some ears.

Before the show we enjoyed a lovely, relaxed dinner next door at the Castle Street Café. The concert itself (Judy Collins) was terrific!

I have experienced some wonderful concerts here. The staff are fine, but when I complained about the A/C (it was very warm in the orchestra section), the house manager did not seemed all that happy with me. A nicer attitude would have been appreciated.

Easy online ticketing, not a bad seat in the house, and house intro before show is never ridiculously self-aggrandizing like other venues.

Charming restored theater. We saw Betty Buckley perform. Excellent.

Getting into the theater itself is always jammed and slow. Only one door open in the middle with two ticket takers. Both sides of the lobby had will call desks. People were jammed up and it was hard to get through. this is the second time this happened to us.

We attended the Center for a play reading, performed by very good professional actors, and including a feed-back session afterwards with the playwright and director. We noticed on the brochure that the center seems to offer a variety of events, at a seemingly reasonable price. The play readings, for example, give authors the opportunity to work on the development of a new play and to receive audience feedback to help the creative process. The center is located right down town, near restaurants and public parking.
