“Excellent Food and very friendly owners”
Reviewed May 9, 2014

I've had Thai food from lots of restaurants in Massachusetts and this really is the best around.

We've dined in the restaurant, but mostly we order takeout. The food is freshly cooked to order, the service is impeccably polite, and the prices are very reasonable.

I highly recommend the delicious shrimp/chicken pad Thai and the pineapple fried rice.

“Authentic Thai Cuisine”
Reviewed April 20, 2014

Been here for lunch.. A friend recommend this place. 5 minute away from Blackburn rotary.. This place you will never missed as the only purple building around that area.. Very little parking space. I order the shrimp with rice. Very tasty. The don't cook their food with any msg.. My friend ordered the drunken chicken.. The place is clean and service was super fast..

So if you want a taste of Thai in Gloucester, this is the place to go..

“Delicious food”
Reviewed October 6, 2013

Most folks seemed to be coming in to pick up take-out, but we ate in the restaurant. The food was delicious and the waitress was very sweet and helpful. We would definitely go back.

“Cozy”

This is a favorite of my in laws when we come to visit. They are vegan and we are not, but we can both find things that we can eat. The restaurant itself is beautiful.

“The purple building on Main St, downtown Gloucester”
Reviewed November 21, 2012

Thai Choice can satisfy a certain craving for say, curry, coconut milk, noodle dishes & appetizers. Service is very slow, w/little atmosphere. But you can order take-out, which we recommend!! *Thai food is often spicy, but if you drill it into their heads, the staff will accommodate your taste.

Our favorite soups are the (hot & sour) Tom Yum w/Shrimp w/Shrimp, mushrooms, lemon grass & enough chili paste to clear your sinuses! And the Kang Liang which is lightly spiced shrimp soup, and plenty of baby corn, zucchini, & spinach.

Vegetable Tempura is standard deep fried carrots, onions, peppers & baby corn served w/ginger soy sauce, but it's satisfying at times.
Love the dressing on the Garden Salad!

Recommended:
Scallops, Veggie, OR Tofu Red Curry which are a melange of fresh colorful vegetables w/ the above ingredients of choice generously sauced in a spicy red curry & served w/sticky rice.
Drunken Chicken is a spicy cashew chicken dish w/string beans, red peppers, jalapenos & scallions in pik pao sauce. It's comforting, but you have to be in the mood & digestion for (heavy proteins & oils ignited by chili peppers & other heat). Though some sticky rice is always a good side kick to their food.
Pad Thai is a satisfying traditional thai noodles stir-fried w/chicken, shrimp, egg, bean sprouts, scallions, & crushed peanuts. Comes in Lunch or Dinner portion & there's a vegetarian option.

Pad Sey U is offered in Chicken OR Beef Lunch or Dinner portion. the wide rice noodles kinda clump together w/broccoli,& egg, & your protein of choice (which can sometimes be dry), & not enough special brown sauce though we requested it.

Golden cups are somewhat dry ground chicken, peas, water chestnuts & corn filled crispy little cups served with pineapple sauce. They're fun to eat.

Ok, so we get the KANG PED YANG, which is boneless roasted duck in red curry sauce & coconut milk with tomato, pineapple, red peppers & snowpeas. For $14.95 we would've been happier w/dark meat chicken (& we don't even like chicken!!). There was nothing special about it. Duck should be seared, roasted, & browned to a moist, juicy, tenderness, w/the skin a crispy golden brown. These cuts were odd & the skin on this duck was chewy. It didn't marry well w/the coconut milk-y sauce. (Poor choice on our part, but we were experimenting. Still like Thai Choice for some things, though.)

We have been going here for years & beforehand went to their now closed sister restaurant in Middleton. And we Really wish they'd bring back their delicious Sticky Rice Dessert. It's rich, coconutty rice, topped w/mango. Crossing our fingers!!
