Nicely updated rooms. Comfy beds. All rooms face the sea. Above average breakfast. Bicycles, DVDs, games available for guests. Beach parking vouchers offer a discount. Stunning views. Peaceful sleeping. Lack of dividers between patio or balcony areas is small drawback. Not much privacy. In a way, it's a plus. You feel part of a shared experience like you might on the deck of a cruise ship. Taking in the happy sounds of people swimming or chatting poolside against the backdrop of the ocean meeting the rocky coast is uniquely appealing. Recommend a second-floor room if you're near the pool. (Lower room numbers are closest to the pool. Furthest from the pool are rooms 124 and 224.) Enjoy!

Room Tip: Recommend a second-floor room if you're near the pool. (Lower room numbers are closest to the po...

I will admit that the Bass Rocks in is an expensive stay. However, for a seaside getaway it is perfect. The rooms have sliding glass doors with screens that let in sea breeze at night. All rooms overlook the Atlantic. The hotel, rooms, and grounds are maintained better than my own home. The bathrooms are tiny, but they are kept very clean, and have modern fixtures, including Toto commodes. The only drawback is that there are very few shelves in the bathrooms. The rooms are bright and airy, with modern low profile A/C (extremely quiet). Free breakfast is continental, there is a good selection of quality items that are constanlty restocked, and they are more than happy to let you take breakfast back to your room. Excellent in room coffee. Staff goes the extra mile to make you feel at home. Walk to Good Harbor beach takes 15 min. Walk to downtown takes 45 min. This is a very romantic hotel for a getaway. I would say that this is a better couple's hotel than family motel. That is a wonderful thing. This is a high quality establishment.

We booked at last minute, and were so happy that we were able to get a beautiful room. Liz was wonderful and suggested a great restaurant for that evening. We were not disappointed.
When I opened the door to our room, it was like I died and went to heaven.. the view spectacular, and the balcony white wicker furniture was comfortable to have an outside drink, and coffee and muffin in the morning. We are looking forward to going back and staying for 2 nights.

I have to be honest, I very rarely write a review. The other day we were speaking with Bass Rocks owner Mark who proudly told us that the Inn had made it into the top 10% of facilities on Trip Advisor. The distinction is certainly well deserved. I don't need to go on about the quality, cleanliness, and attractiveness of this property as others have done that. I'll simply say this. My five star rating is based on value for lodging dollar spent. Over the years I've written perhaps a half dozen five star reviews from cruise ships to a small $55 a night hotel in the South Dakota Badlands to this fine property. For my money you will find no better lodging in the North Shore region.

This is the nicest hotel in the area. Location - beautiful views, watch the ships all day from your balcony, bring your binoculars. Classy, Upscale - Starbucks coffee, Tazo teas, well appointed rooms & furniture, stylish historic charm, nothing gaudy. Meticulous clean rooms & especially the grounds. Owners & staff go over & above to keep it picture perfect. Staff very friendly & helpful, ask Brandon for restaurant recommendations & ideas. We went to Rudder, Passports, Latitude 43, captain Carlos, all excellent. Another example of the little extras they do is offering guests bikes to ride, perfect road to ride on. Also, benches across the street to sit & enjoy the views. Very nice heated pool. It is the kind if hotel that people stop their car & take a picture of, it's that picturesque. You will be happy you chose it. Room Tip- if you can't sit in the sun, ask for a veranda room with a roof. Comfortable furniture too. Could golf & fish, bring your clubs & pole!

Stayed for 3 nights. Our room faced the ocean, So beautiful! The hotel's main building has a game room - a pool table, tons of books to borrow, tons of DVDs to borrow, a dart board, & a computer. The rooms are clean. Staff friendly. Comp. breakfast is WONDERFUL. Homemade scones, biscuits, muffins, eggs, fruit, & more. Free coffee, tea, & cookies are available 24 hrs. Also has a golf course! Such a great place!!

Room Tip: If you're going to an ocean location, FACE THE OCEAN! Ask for oceanview.

I stayed at Bass Rocks this past month for a wedding in town over a long weekend. The pictures look tremendous, and I was cautiously optimistic that the property overall would deliver on the exterior pics. I was pleasantly surprised. The views as depicted are absolutely spectacular. The rooms were modern and clean and generally pretty good. Bathrooms are pretty tight though, and it is all shared balconies or outdoor areas, nothing private. No elevators here that I saw, so if you have a lot of luggage, try to get a room on the ground floor. The pool is small at first glance, and with few people out there who were using it, it felt very comfortable. Good maintenance of the pool - in the time I was out there, I noted that towels were actively replenished as well as cleaning of the pool and surrounding area. Better than I've seen at much larger, pool-focused resort hotels frankly. The Inn offers a free continental breakfast, on par with what you might find at a Courtyard Marriott or Hampton. They also offer other quaint charms (remember not suburban area with major chain establishments) such as a reading and DVD library, selection of board games, and the like. Staff is very friendly and helpful - high marks there - ready to help at the front desk or as a concierge on things to do in the area, menus and recommendations for local restaurants, etc. You should note that any sort of shopping areas are all driving distance, not walkable - it wasn't an issue for me, but something one should be aware of. My only other beef is that the wi-fi service was terrible - when outside on the balcony or pool/common areas, full signal - but as soon as you stepped into the room, it would drop in and out. Definitely an item for improvement for the money that you spend and the fact that it's offered as an amenity. In the end, being conscientious of the aforementioned points, I would recommend Bass Rocks and would stay here again if I'm in the area.

Room Tip: Second floor room if light on luggage to enjoy the views - the middle rooms beginning with 105/205 h...
