We stayed for two nights on an October weekend and were very pleased with our stay. Beautiful weather, ocean, town and motel. The room (Room 215) was very clean and spacious except for the bathroom which was small but that didn't bother us. The staff were very pleasent. The road in front of the hotel was not very busy and did not really detract from the ocean views. However we were there later in October after the peak season. Even though we were there on a beautiful weekend there were not too many people golfing and didn't notice them or hear them until we left the room. The balcony is not private but it is very roomy with seating for 4 and a coffee table. The only inconvenience was there being no microwave in the room. We did have a small fridge and coffee maker. The continental breakfast was simple but had fresh baked muffins and cookies! The cookies were available at all hours which made it nice to drop in for tea/coffee and snack during the day. The hot apple cider, available during the evenings, was excellent. We will be returning next year.

This is a grand place to stay on the ocean front. Each room has its own view of the ocean. Our room was the same as advertised. Staff is quite friendly and helpful. Morning breakfast buffet is perfect to start your day. The afternoon cookies and teas are the perfect "comfort food" after a day of touring about. On suggestion of one of the staff, we went to a restaurant where the locals eat, not tourists. Just great and delicious. The sitting area across the street is comfy with a fantastic ocean view. We stayed 3 days. We hated to leave, but we WILL return!!!!!

Room Tip: Any room is a grand room.

Stayed here for 4 nights at the end of Sept. We were never in this area before, so had no idea where to stay. We chose this Inn because it was rated #1 for Gloucester. Well, past reviewers were not wrong. It was just wonderful! We were in the Oceanfront Bldg., with 2 queens, on the 2nd floor. It had a covered balcony with a comfy wicker loveseat, 2 chairs and a table. The beds were extremely comfortable, the room was absolutely spotless and the view was perfect - directly across the street from the ocean. We couldn't have asked for more. The desk personnel were very helpful when we asked for directions and resturant recommendations and did offer to make reservations for us. We will definitely return next year. Can't wait!!

Bass Rocks was such a nice getaway!! The rooms all have fantastic views and the hotels general location is perfect for seeing all of Cape Ann. The young man at breakfast was charming and friendly to everyone and he was totally efficient. The rooms are clean and comfy...the ocean crashing on the rocks beautiful. Unexpected for the value...great!

We found this gorgeous Inn 2 years ago and return as often as possible. It is by far one of our favorite places to visit. The staff are always so courteous and accommodating~Brandon was especially wonderful! We enjoy this Inn so much we always end up adding a day or two to our stay! The views are incredible no matter the time of year. The rooms are immaculate and always have the wonderful smell of fresh linens that have been hung to dry in the sun. The balconies afford mornings and evenings filled with sunrises and sunsets while enjoying a favorite beverage with loved ones, and the breakfast is delicious with a wide variety of choices. For entertainment, there is a billiard/dart room, books, a large dvd selection, and free use of bicycles so you can tour the island. This is the perfect place for romantic or family getaways!

Hands down, this was our favorite place during a recent trip to New England.

The ocean is right across the street. If you enjoy listening to the waves and the surf, then this is the place for you. The rooms were immaculate----very clean, nothing out of place. Outside the room is a large balcony with chairs and tables to watch the ocean and perhaps even see a whale if the timing is right. Beds were very comfortable.

Value----it's pricey, but you're paying to stay on an expensive piece of real estate that has a fantastic ocean view. We splurged, and we're both happy that we did.

I wanted to stay a second night, but we had to move on. If you are in the area and need to chill out and relax, then this is where you need to go.
