I come here every time I'm in Gloucester, and fall more and more in love with the food each time. The fish tacos are delicious, as are the crab cakes and Mediterranean salad. Portions are generous and can easily be split amongst several people. Service is a bit slow, hence the 4/5 stars as the food definitely deserves 5/5 :)

I don't make the trip to sugar mags often enough! It's a 30 min drive and a wait if we arrive after 9:00, but soooo worth it! The omelettes are beautiful, overstuffed with cheese and fresh out of the garden produce. No flat diner omelettes here! And the pancake selection is creative, tasty, and worth sharing as a side dish. On this visit we shared a carrot cake pancake which is served with a cream cheese butter, yummy. The waitstaff is attentive and the turnover is quick. You will not leave hungry! The only improvement would be newer, more sturdy chairs. Mine was ready for the recycle bin and I also saw an older gentleman switching his out. A small complaint, but comfort is important to the customer. One of the best breakfasts on the north shore!

Ate here the morning of our departure from Gloucester. The breakfast was fantastic. A bit pricey for breakfast, but the quantities did not disappoint.Great selection on the menu.

We LOVE Sugar Magnolias. We visit every time we are in town, which is usually about 3-4 times per year. The food is excellent -- my favorites are the crab cakes and eggs or the breakfast sandwich with egg, arugula, goat cheese and fig jam. Both are a bit unusual, but both are excellent. The service is always upbeat and attentive, and it's a fun place to spend some of the morning enjoying delicious food. Be prepared to wait, but usually not for long -- they keep folks moving in and out, and the longest we've ever waited was about 15 minutes for a table for two. We've been once for lunch, too, and that was excellent also. Just a great place with a fun atmosphere.

We met old friends at this iconic spot based on its well deserved reputation and we were not disappointed.

The service was absolutely top-drawer and the interesting array of unique breakfast selections encouraged all 4 of us to try something other than eggs / bacon / toast / etc.

We look forward to returning!
