The Main St. in Gloucester is so cute, curio shops, restaurants, thrift shops, but almost everything closes at 5pm on Saturdays. So many people were wandering around, they could have made so much more $$ if they had stayed open.

Very quaint. A great place to wonder around for an afternoon. Some really nice coffee houses and little shops.

Adorable sidewalks. Unique shopping options. Great small-town feel. Wonderful eatery choices. Almost a stone's throw to the harbour and the Boulevard.

Throughout the summer there are various events hosted on Main Street. Keep your eyes and ears out...as the community comes out in droves...and the spirits are always high (St. Peter's Fiesta, Sidewalk Bizarre, Parades, etc.)

We have been here 2 years ago during a street fair and the street was very colorful and vibrant. This time it was much more gray and the economical crises is seen almost everywhere. Many places are closed and for rent. the street was almost empty and most people around were local, not tourist. The street itself is still fun to walk and look around; however you don't need to allocate more than 15-20min to walk it (excluding any stop for food or coffee).

Good shops etc esp the music store but also the ceramics interspersed with restaurants. Parking can be a hassle.
