The two memorials are very close together, the Fishermans Memorial, and the Widows/families Memorial. Just a short walk between the two. The tablets with names is moving and sad. Both are located at a pretty area for resting and reflection. Plenty of benches to rest. This is the best reason to visit Gloucester, in respect for those who have perished.

Perfect chance to discuss dangers of the sea with the kids! Also able to discuss technology advances that are making it safer.

This memorial to the sailors who have perished at sea is very impressive. It sits on a wide cement walkway right on the harbor. The area is very busy in the summer with limited parking on the road so be patient. Once you find parking it is a most pleasant area to walk and there are park benches if you prefer to people watch. Mind your step as many people bring their dogs and not all are inclined to clean up after them. From here you can walk to restaurants and shops. There are beautiful homes and gardens along the opposite side of the road. The photo opportunities are amazing as the light changes as the day progresses. It is worth the trip.

For our family, it is a tradition to get your picture taken at the Man at the Wheel. We have generations of pictures in front of the Man. Always a gorgeous view of the harbor, too.

We never miss stopping by the Fisherman's Memorial when we are in Gloucester. Such an important and inspiring tribute to those souls lost at sea.
