“Great meal at Lobsta Land”
Reviewed August 1, 2014

Four of us had wonderful meals at Lobsta Land in Gloucester, MA on July 30. Two had clam chowder and decided it was one of, if not the best...correct thickness, great seasoning, tons of clams (and these guys have had a lot of chowder over the past decades). The swordfish was cooked perfectly and was moist. The Caesar salads had the right amount of tasty dressing and lots of fresh shaved Parmesan cheese. Great french fries! The glasses of wine were generous. We had excellent service and were seated right at the time of our reservation.

This is a casual restaurant, which makes it a good place when vacationing. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was that it was fairly noisy. It has a local reputation for a great breakfast, although we haven't tried that yet.

“Joey C was right- good Lobsta!”
Reviewed July 27, 2014 via mobile

Based in Goodmorning Gliucester recommendation we ate at lobsta Land and we were not disappointed The haddock chowder was full of meaty large chunks if fresh fish. Onion rings tasty and the lobster roll really tasty with no fillers and very little mayonnaise I bet there was a pound or seemed like a pound of lobster meat in the sandwich. Next time we go there we are ordering the bouillabaisse it sounds amazing and waitress said it is her favorite. Enjoy

“MARKET PRICE - price raping”
Reviewed July 26, 2014

Like every one else on trip advisor and yelp - I was eager to dine here due to the reviews, we arrived at 5:45pm for dinner on a Friday night to no wait - we walked right in, a family of 4 with 2 teens. However it was down hill from there... More than 60% of the items listed on the menu where list with " market price" ???? REALLY this just the owners way of saying he going to screw you with out you knowing it. It is awkward to have to ask your server the meal price of every item on the menu!!! This owner needs to wake up, they must be running a 20% food cost in this place. Lazy man lobster (lobster pie) market price = $39 bucket of steamers = $35 fisherman's platter $39 fried clam platter with about 10 clams = $35. dinner for 4 with 2 appetizers and 2 soda's 1 beer ( one of us had water) cost $170 before tip. We are not a family that worries about pricing, but since we are in the restaurant business we knew right away this place was price gauging the public. We entertained leaving but had ordered our drinks already. The food was not bad - but the chefs don't set the price. The service was poor at best - we waited about 40 minutes for our meal when the restaurant was still not busy, we had to ask for drink refills, just a poor experience overall.
We went the the Causeway Restaurant the evening prior and the food was better and 1/2 the price for just about the same food choices. I usually read both good and bad review and judge for myself but I also don't usually write bad reviews, but this place needs to be avoided while in Gloucester especially with all the other great dining locations to choose from. I hope I can save some family's or couples the experience before they head over when they take the time to read this review. Remember the quality or taste of the food is not the problem it is the pricing - way over priced for what you get. Choose wisely travelers - and good luck!

“Best lobster roll ever”
Reviewed July 25, 2014 via mobile

It's like a whole lobster in a brioche bun. Whole claws. Big chunks of lobster. Nothing but lobster very lightly dressed. Pricey but well worth it. Best we've had on this trip. Funny to find with Apple Maps, but it ends up it's right by Rt 128. Go. Enjoy.

“Really big servings of fresh, fresh fish”
Reviewed July 19, 2014

We had late lunch for three adults and one child. Onion rings appetizer not greasy but a huge platter of rings. And so much food on the fisherman's platter, all the platters, actually, that we will definitely split one dish between two people next time. Wonderful service, with a three-year-old we kept asking for this or that, and we were handled cheerfully and efficiently throughout. I had the shrimp and garlic with pasta, ate every bite. We all really enjoyed our fresh fish dinner, this is what an easy-going place should be like for fish. We have been many times before, and will go again. Breakfast is good, too, but it tends to be crowded during the summer.
