“Awesome margaritas, great service, so-so food.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 2, 2012

We visited this place on a Tuesday night, and the first thing that my boyfriend and I noticed was that the restaurant is nicely split up in two, so there is a bar area for enjoying margaritas and hanging with friends and a restaurant area for those looking to dine in quieter surroundings. The complimentary chips and salsa promise good things to come, but our dining experience soon took a turn for the worse. The margaritas are very good, and strong, but the calamari appetizer we ordered was bland, and barely fried with white looking dough and seafood that was chewy. The lobster taco my boyfriend ordered was literally just lobster mixed with mayonnaise, served in a soft taco shell. Not very Mexican or authentic in our books. My beef enchiladas were bland, although the meat was tender, and lacked cilantro, chilli and lime flavors. Would recommend this place based only on the margaritas, salsa and chips, and our awesome waiter, who was very kind, friendly and livened the otherwise quite dull dining experience up as much as possible.

“Family Friendly Authentic Mexican Never Misses”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

Always warm and friendly, Jalapeno's owners treat visitors like family. This is an any-night-of-the-week kind of place, great for nights when you bail on making dinner and want to feed the family and for starting off girls night out. the drinks are not expensive, and the margaritas are both interesting and consistent. I love the black gold, which adds Chambord to a traditional rocks and salt concoction, like a tequila lime ricky.

We went to Jalapeno's last Thursday with a crowd of kids and adults, managed to secure a table for 6 with a 15 minute lead time - they are super accommodating and masters at floor rotations, (in the opinion of another former industry person).

With 2 kids in tow, timing is everything. Drinks hit the table quick. for adults and children, plus double nachos for easy sharing and crayons and color pages. We were nibbling and drinking and laughing within 5 minutes of hitting the table. And the kids were quiet. Win.

For dinner I went with tender smokey steak fajitas, my husband with chorizo papas (spicy sausage and potatoes), our friends with the shredded chicken poblano chimechanga (decadent!!! ) and beef tacos. Plates were authentic, tasty and colorful. Service was spot on (and with 6 guests, there were lots of "needs" at our table) and the portions were so generous, we had giant siesta-inspiring lunches for work the next day.

“Great value and service!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 21, 2012

We had 30 minutes for lunch and decided to stop in to Jalapeno's to grab a bite. When we told the staff we only had a half hour, they were more than accommodating. Our waiter was great-making sure to recommend dishes that wouldn't take too much time to prepare in the kitchen and was very attentive throughout our meal. The complimentary chips and salsa were sooo good! We ordered the cheese quesadillas and the carnitas tacos. Everything was tasty and you couldn't beat the price!!

“SOOOOOO much food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2012

We went there last night for dinner. It was very good and we have enough leftovers for dinner tonight. Our waiter Waldon was good. He even gave us extra chips and salsa to go with out leftovers tonight knowing tha we are here on vacation and staying at a hotel. I great find for sometine different in this seafood town. My husband tried the special scallop fajitas and said they were vere very good.

“not impressed”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 13, 2012

We were very disappointed in this restaurant. The fresh salsa and chips for starters was very good, but all went downhill after that. Appetizer fried oysters, calamari, jalapeno was institutional and flavorless. Haddock burrito was 75% rice! And so bland. The worst was the chicken quesadillas, which are pretty hard to ruin unless you use old chicken with bad refrigerator flavor. Overall quality of ingredients is poor (except the salsa) and not worth the calories
