“Great Ocean Front Park”

A great playground for the kids and plenty of room to run around and explore. Also a good ice cream stand at the south end of the park.

“Rockin' at the park”
Reviewed October 27, 2013

We climbed the rock at Stage Fort Park. What an amazing place. Historic interest, amazing views and the beach. And, it's free!

“Very nice beach park with lots of historical value”
Reviewed October 22, 2013

My husband and I visited Stage Fort Park and Beach, and were pleasantly surprised at both the deep historical value of the site, as well as its simple, restrained beauty. Tablet Rock, a huge granite boulder about 4 stories high, was fun to climb. It also has a plaque noting it as the site where the first settlers to Gloucester landed. We also visited two beaches, Cressy Beach, and the beach "behind" Tablet Rock. We visited in September, and the water was much too cold for swimming, but locals were sunbathing throughout the park. Overall, it was a very peaceful and beautiful place. I'm sure it's bustling during the summer, however! Also, there is a docent available at the visitor center, and he was very helpful and knowledgeable. We wish we had more time to spend there!

“Beautiful Place to Walk or Play”
Reviewed October 22, 2013

This historic park is fun. There is plenty of parking. Unfortunately, the visitors center was closed (not sure if it was because it was October or because of the government shut down). In the summer, this is a very happening place complete with ice cream stand. There is a nice playground for kids and fields for sports. The most fun is walking on the huge rocks used as a naturally built fort.

Light, easy hiking to breathtaking views. Spend hours there and watch sunset, wow. Rocky beaches, baseball fields, playground...perfect for all.
