Owner description: Cape Ann Whale Watch in Gloucester, Massachusetts provides guaranteed whale sightings for every whale watching tour out to Stellwagen Bank, a national marine preserve about 12 miles off the coast of Gloucester deemed one of the "Top 5 Whale Watching Destinations in the World" by the World Wildlife Fund due to the wide variety of whale species whom migrate to the coast of Gloucester, Massachusetts every year to feed on the abundant natural resources. We provide the best whale watching in New England as it's an awe-inspiring experience which every human being should have the opportunity to appreciate. We make it a very special event. For over 35 years, Cape Ann Whale Watch has been dazzling whale watching enthusiasts with sightseeing tours aboard the largest, fastest and most elegant whale watching vessel in Massachusetts, north of Boston, Massachusetts aptly named "The Hurricane II" due to its immense size and speed as it descends upon its destination. Cape Ann Whale Watch's patrons have the opportunity to spend a lot more time with the whales than with other whale watching companies in Gloucester MA since "The Hurricane II" gets to the whales' feeding grounds with much more expediency as well as traveling home faster, therefore more time is actually spent observing whales including but not limited to Humpback Whales, Minke Whales, Northern Right Whales, Pilot Whales, Northern Right Whales, Sperm Whales, Sei Whales, Blue Whales (The Largest Whales in the Seven Seas yet seldom seen around Gloucester MA), Fin Whales, Atlantic White Sided Dolphins, Harbor Porpoises and whole host of other fascinating marine creatures as we deliver the best whale watching excursion in Massachusetts. "The Hurricane II" boasts 115 ft length with over 400 ft of whale watching room from the railings of the upper and lower observation decks for optimum whale watching conditions. There is a heated, furnished indoor cabin with a full service galley serving hot meals, snacks and cold beverages as well as a fully stocked bar with local brews, popular beer, wine and mixed drinks. Cape Ann Whale Watch is truly the finest whale watching tour in the Boston MA area offering the highest level of quality, comfort and service at the cheapest, most affordable price suitable for any family entertainment budget whether on vacation or a day trip. We offer AAA discounts on the adult tickets. We also offer reduced rates for seniors, children and military families. We go where the whales go. Our vessels communicate with each other as to the location of whales so we will go anywhere to see them on the North Shore or South Shore of Massachusetts including off the coast of Boston, Massachusetts: Salem MA, Newburyport, Cape Cod, Hampton NH, Rowley, Rockport MA, Danvers, Peabody, Swampscott, Revere, Winthrop or wherever else the whales may roam.

I took this whale watch again on Memorial Day;I usually go on one of their boats at least once a year in season;we had a long ride out to see the whales almost down to P-town but well worth it once there saw at least 10 whales all aroung the boat lots of different activity by the whales including lots of feeding as well as dives ,tail-stomping etc, never recall the "technical terms" for their behaviour but great to watch. I live on the North Shore of Ma. and have been on watches with other outfits in Gloucester,as well as once in Newburyport and Salem but find this company the best always pleasant and they'll stay out at least an hour longer than the 4 hour limit to ensure people get to see the whales. Iwould note that if your going whale watching in my experience early May thru early June seems to be the most active period to see whales but I've also had good trips in July and August just less whales to see

We went on the first tour of the 2012 Season. We were a little concerned as the area of the Marine National Park is quite large and it seems likely that the boats know the best places to go to based on what they have previously seen. With the first tour they do not have that advantage.

We need not have worried. In fact it was an amazing trip and we saw plenty of whales. We saw all four of the types of whale you are likely to encounter - Hump Back, Fin, Mincke and even got up close and personal to a Northern Right Whale which was amazing as there are only reckoned to be 350 in the world! We also saw a couple of pods of dolphins quite close to the boat. I reckon everyone will have come away with some nice photos.

As far as practicalities go its a lot colder on the water than on shore so take more clothes than you think you will need. There are restroom facilities on the boat and some very basic catering - drinks including beer, hot dogs, nachos, chocolate bars etc.

We had a great time and enjoyed it so much that we are planning a return trip this weekend!

Cape Ann Whale Watch in Gloucester, MA is a must do ! I was on the trip in late Oct and the whales were pretty active, much more so when we were heading back to the harbor. But still, active the whole time we were out there in the area of the whales. The best thing about the trip was the whales!
The boat had food, snacks, drinks, an indooor space on the boat with tables and bench seats, restrooms. Some people took their dogs an the boat and the dogs didnt seem to enjoy the trip. I wouldn't take my dog out there. You can take your own food and drink and might be a good idea if you don;t want to pay the prices on the boat. The boat wasn't crowded like the other one that came out. Cape Ann Whale watch was the first boat out there, which was great. The crew was informative about the area and the whales. Do take a camera, digital camera recommended. A light jacket is useful in late Oct when I went. The water was calm so the day was ideal for picture taking. The trip was approximately 3.5 hours long and around 25 miles from the harbor. Boston could be seen in the distance as we left the harbor.
I would highly recommend going with Cape Ann Whale Watch and will go again the next time I visit the Gloucester, MA area.

The whales were everywhere during our cruise. At times there were so many, you could not see them all at one time. The crew were also very friendly and informative. I asked the Cape Ann photographer how she rated our cruise and she said "1 out of 10...it was a 30". Could not have asked for a better cruise. It was truly a peak life expereince.
