Owner description: Cape Ann Brewing Company is an award-winning, family-owned, micro-brewery and the home of Fisherman's Brew. It’s Brewpub features the brewery’s award-winning craft beers brewed on-site, with a bar shaped like the port side of a ship. Long, German-style wooden tables and a sitting area with several rocking chairs create a mellow, laid-back atmosphere unlike anything else in the Cape Ann community. Classic board games are available for leisurely enjoyment. Local artist renderings adorn the wood-paneled walls and the large picture windows look out onto St. Peter’s Square where the famed St. Peter’s Fiesta is held each June.

I'm a beer nut and love to drink the stuff a few feet from where it was made. This is the chief appeal of Cape Ann Brewing Company & Brewpub. Sadly the night we were there, they were out of several of their own beers. Bummer. Food's only OK; sitting on backless benches (with strangers if they are busy) is OK as long as you anticipate it. Our server was charming. Maybe they will take a tip from Lat 43 just down the street and provide different environments in their large space. Nothing to complain about (except have all your beers available, please), but nothing to draw us back right away. (TripAdvisor clearly thinks this is a brewery to tour, not a restaurant, and so asks lots of questions that make no sense, like is there a fee, recommended length of visit, food available, bathroom facilities, lockers? Catch up, TripA!)

We are sorry you came on the very rare occasion that our draft lines are not full. Being a small production brewery, and not just a brewpub, there are sometimes unavoidable circumstances that result in one or two of our 12 draft lines being off. That said, we pride ourselves in offering a wide variety of styles for any customer. We hope you get the opportunity to come back out sometime and sample our wide variety in full.

Also, as a heads up, though we are a restaurant, we do offer brewery tours and there are no fees for them. Cheers!

The atmosphere here is lively & fun, perhaps because everyone sits at long tables with everyone else. While the food is basic, even underwhelming, the microbrews (this is home base) are terrific. I tried one that resembled sherry.
There's a unique and tongue-in-cheek selection of pub & board games that alone are worth the trip.

There is a fun, casual atmosphere here with terrific beers and average food. The amount of natural light is a real pleasure, as so many pubs are depressingly dark. However, if you are 5'2" tall and sitting on the wood benches your legs do not touch the ground. Eventually, the wooden edge cuts into the back of your thigh, your foot goes to sleep, and you pay your bill as fast as possible in order to stand up and leave. I recommend this place for tall people only. ;-)

Enjoyed a few pops and an appetizer on a Saturday afternoon. A lively bunch of people playing the shuffleboard game. Great atmosphere on the waterfront, with long wooden tables and benches. Staff was friendly and attentive. The pork shank appetizer special was so yummy!
