Great family beach - we spent our time on the south side. the high tide was receding when we got there so it was fun for the kids to play in and around the sand bars and tidal pools. Lots of hermit crabs and periwinkles to find & catch as the tide recedes. Fun and safe boogie boarding for the little ones. Very clean and expansive beach. lots of families. Life guards are very active on cautioning swimmers about weather conditions and currents. the sand bar that opens up at low tide is perfect for soccor, frisbee, and catch. Long walk from parking lot; if heading to the south side of beach, may want to drop off your party on the crossover bridge below Thatcher with your beach gear before heading to the parking lot. Need to get there early to ensure you can park. The guys in the parking booth are hilarious - they enjoy their jobs. If heading to the south end of beach, drive past the bathroom building and park further south down the lot at the next trailhead - it will cut off part of the walk to that end of the beach. the food consessions were not open on Labor Day Sunday due to the weather. We could not figure out where the showers were. Beautiful fun beach for families.

We always stay in Rockport at an inn right on the beach so it was hard to justify paying $20 for parking, but still I've been wanting to check out a different beach. We got there at opening and at low tide and had our pick of the whole beach. We chose a spot up against the sand dunes which was a smart move cause those who set up supposedly at the high tide mark were sent scrambling when the waves came in, lol! One can spend most of the day here cause of how different the beach is depending on the tide, which goes way out and comes way in. The channel under the bridge becomes a lazy river that moves deceivingly fast and could get deep in spots, it caught me by surprise when i had our five y.o. on my back, good thing there's a lifeguard in this section. Nice view of the twin lighthouses to the left, and the house on the cliff to the right.

Found this beach by accident. It has a nice bridge to walk over with people swimming under neath it. A lot of people use boogie boards as there is a little current. it is shallow. But on the other side is a sandbar to walk out on and also the ocean to swim in. Beautiful spot

Geat family beach. Different sections for different interests. South side for families with kids if you want to swim in the pool that is made by the tide. This particular part I feel is dangerous for small children though because of the current. Food stand good and at great price. Umbrella and chair rentals and they also sell a lot that you could possibly need. (sunscreen, bogie boards etc.) We LOVE this beach. Only wish there were another place to buy food too so you don't have to walk so far if you are at the end of the beach.
