“Great Value. Good stay with right expectations.”
Reviewed June 1, 2011

This is a pretty basic hotel but it does the job if you're just looking for a room for the night. It is an outdoor style hotel just off the Mass turnpike. The rooms are straightforward and not oppulent but do the job. Staff were helpful and efficient. We would stay again if near Boston or passing through.

Patty Schlossner (??)--man(??) was fantastic as I watched her over an hour and a half at 5:30 a.m. yesterday, not just for the customers, seeking ways to help each one in a cheerful thoughtful way, but also for the company, tending to the paperwork and being diligent with the coffee pots, phones, and newspapers, again with good cheer, even tho' she said she was very tired when I walked in, and that the night had been full of additional demands on her time and attention due to the overwhelming volume of guests every May and Oct.

As with all major cities on the east coast of the United states it's almost impossible to find a hotel room in the Boston area (aside from the hotel 6 that reents by the hour. It's not written in the name, but you know the "9" is there, just the same) at this quality level for less than $250 a night. Framingham is part of what the locals call Metro West and by car isw about fifteen minutes from downtown Boston, thirteen minutes to the Back Bay and because of it's location (the Massachusetts Turnpike is visible through the trees in the back parking lot) Roputes 128, 30, 20, 495 and 90 are within easy commute.) the Red Roof Inn- at less than $100 a night is without a doubt the very best hotel deal in the Greater Bosdton area.

the hotel is motel in stule in that every door opens to the outside, whoich is a nice thing on a beautiful spring day. Each room has free wireless internet, coffee machine (as well as coffee in the lobby), daily cleaning service, a safe for valuables, one or two beds with the best pillows I've ever slept on, a wonderful desk-workspace and a tasteful CLEAN environment. THeir rooms look just like the Hyatt or the Lower 14 floors of the Sheraton Boston, they accept pets, though you would never know that based on how the rooms look when you arrive and they have4 smoking as well as non smoking rooms- something that is increasingly difficult to find in Boston. I have stayed here numerous times and my current stay is, so far, coming up to it's fourth week in duration. I've gotten to know many staff members- all ofd them unusually kind and supportive- and they make me feel as though I am special, more special perhaps than any of their other guests though the group of people next door from Arizona last weekend here for a wedding, reported the same thought ot me when they popped in to discuss how very liberal Massachusetts is. ("There are just no GUN shops around here!"

Another Kudos for Boston. There are far fewer deaths by gun here than any other city on the east coast including Atlanta and Syracuse.

That said, I've never felt unsafe here security is top notch, everything is well lit and the parking lot has no dark corners in which one may feel threatened. A 24 hour Dunkin Doniuts is literally next door, a North End Italian take out food place is across the street, three gas stations within walking distance, a Cumberaldn Farms, convenience store and about half a mile away is the largest Mall in Massachusetts and perhaps the second largest in the country. (the Natick Mall- Google it.)

One exit in on the Mass Pike gets you to route 128 (Boston's beltway) and then you're in Newton/ Boston with easy exits to Cmabridge (Harvard, MIT) Brighton and Allston (Boston University, Fenway Park) and th4e Prudential Center/Copley Square, the heart of the Back Bay, Berklee College of Music, Northeastern, Boston College, The Museum of Fine Arts and (better than Florence) The Isabella Stewart gardner Museum. (the greates mystery of the 20th Century is the theft of Munch's "The Scream": from The Gardner Museum, having dissapeared during one night with absolutely noi clues or evidence at all; to this day it remains missing)

Boston's theatre district has reinvented itself from the days of post World War II when it was the out of town try out for the shows Broadway bound ("The song "send In The CLowns" was writtten at the Lennox Hotel) and now there are many huge theatre houses as well as the Boston Center For Performing Arts which houses no less than four or five theatre companies. Bostn is home to the Tony Award winning American Reperetory Theatre and the Huntington Theatre. symphony Hall is the home to both the Boston Symphony Orchestra (the finest porcdhestra in North america) and The world Famous Boston Pops who also play at the Hatch Shell on the Esplande right on the Charles River Basin.

Boston's historical significance to the development of North america is taught in Elementary school. Everything from the USS constitution, bunker Hill, Plymouth Rock, The Old north Church and the famous "Freedom Trail" is a healthy walk through this small city. The New England Aquarium is one of the worlds best, featuring a seven story massive central fish tank and manyu other displays. It sits on a peer in Boston Harbor walking distance from Faniuel Hall and The Marriott Waterfront (soingle room $325 per night). Directly beside the aquarium is the ferry that weill take you to several of the Boston Harbor Ilands including a state park that was once a Civil War fortress. A half hour north will take you to the famous are where the 1791 Salem Village Wioth Trials occured (the last capital punishment exercised in the comonwelath of Massachusetts) with Hawqthornes House of The Seven Gables and the graves of some sixteen people executed as witches. Those witches who managed to esxcape moved to Salem End Road right here in Framingham- not fifteen minutes from this Red Roof Inn.

In short, you can';t do better anywhere within the 495 circle that encases what is Metropolitan Boston. It's a remarkable vacation city, a wonderful place to conduct business and a remarkable place to live. Cape Cod and the NAtional sea Shore is an hour and ten minutes south (though the drive from the bridges to the tip, Provintown is about five hours, flights from Logan AIrport, Hanscombe and KMan chester will fly you to Provintown, Nantucket (setting for Grubstreet Productions award winning Television series "Wings" and Martha's Voineyard- both islands are also accesible by ferry that leaves from either HNyaniss (stop and say hello to the Kennedy Compound) or from Woods Hole where the world famous Woods Hole Oceanographic institute calls home- a tiny 18th century fishing Village in Famlmouth.

The Red Roof Inn also has a frequent stay program (RediRoof) and every morning I drink the free coffeee and read the USA Today that is hanging from my door knob. I can't say enough wonderful things about The Red Roof Inn; Framingham/Boston. I give it four stars in Services only because therre is no pool, weight room or room service, but given what you save on the room rates you could easily pick those servies up elsewhere in Framingham (which is the largest town in the United States at 85,000 people and still run by town meeting aas it was in 1792) or yuou can have just about any type of food delivered from the multitude of restaurants in the area ranging dfrom McDonalds to Legal Seafood.

Don;t tell anyone you heard it from me because if this hotel becomes too well known I will never agaoin be able to get a reservation and those of us who know about this miraculous deal will be looking for the guy who told the rest of the world about this remarkable deal.

First comment is about the staff at this hotel - who were professional, friendly and accommodating. The beds are quite comfortable. Our room was pleasantly quiet, despite being right near the entrance to Mass Pike (Route 90). Unfortunately that's the best I have to say about this hotel. The first room we were given smelled so strongly and bitterly of smoke, it was as though there had been a fire in it or someone had smoked in there for years. It was horrible; that room should not be rented. We went back to front desk and first they offered a can of air freshener (?!) but we refused that offer and then we were promptly given a new room, but we lost the fridge and microwave in the new room. The second room also stank of a stale mildewy smell masked by febreze or whatever - yuk. Anyway it was bearable so we stayed, but kept our door open a lot to let in fresh air and we thought about checking out the next morning. The bathroom floor was grubby and there was grunge around the shower controls. The phones went out of service throughout the hotel on Saturday morning and were still not working when we checked out Monday. We are looking for a decent, affordable hotel for our frequent trips to the area, but this place is not it for us.

Plus points: Lovely young trainee receptionist - Rachel?- who was really helpful and efficient. Super comfy beds. Easy access and parking right outside room.Very good rates.
Minus points: Right beside interstate highway and access road on the incline, so traffic noise is intense.Room heaters are on the top of walls- dont they know heat rises- so you end up with a very hot head and cold feet!

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from highway.

Picked this because of the access to Boston via the commuter rail. The next day we drove into a parking garage and saved a bunch of money just doing that instead. If I had to do it again, I would have stayed closer.

The hotel was quiet and the staff was cordial. The location is a bit tricky if you want to get out in the morning during or near rush hour for breakfast or dinner because it's a two lane road so heavy traffic is an issue. If you want to get on the turnpike, the exit if right down the road. Our room was decent, but wasn't spotless. I had to clean a few areas myself that were left untouched by the cleaning staff. Decent stay. If you want to go to Boston the Boston Common garage is $11 a day instead of riding the commuter line near the hotel (West Natick).

No, it's not the Four Seasons, but the Red Roof Inn in Framingham MA is far and away the cleanest hotel I've ever stayed in (aside perhaps from a handful of really expensive places like the Four Seasons). It's always clean, and I have stayed here several dozen times. As usual, I'm sure it comes top-down from the manager, Dan, whom I have seen making his rounds through the parking lot and personally picking up any stray litter. Everyone seems to want to keep the place clean. Staff is always helpful and very friendly.
