“Wonderful Hosts, Property and Breakfast!”
Reviewed October 20, 2011

My husband and I stayed at the Howarth House recently for three nights and had a great time. Brian and Linda were the best hosts and the breakfast was delicious! they made sure we had everything we needed during our stay. They have a large, beautiful property and you can really relax and feel comfortable there. Some of the amenties, your choice of items freshly made items for breakfast, a few choices of dining areas for breakfast, many seating areas to relax throughout the day or evening, coffee and tea all day, pool, they even had a fire going in the fire pit one night for us to relax around. We stayed in the East Room which is only available on occasion and it was such a beautiful and comfortable room with a queen size bed and large jacuzzi in the bathroom. The place is right around the corner from Fitchburg state and 15-20 minutes to the NH border. This is your place to stay!

Room Tip: All of the rooms are lovely, we stayed in the East Room which is the middle room and would recommend...

Brian and Linda run an A+ establishment! Every detail uniquely and superbly thought out. Everything was executed perfectly from Brian's foamy cappuccinos and fluffy pancakes to the DIY coffee maker in the salon. The North room was comfortable and well appointed, the pool clean and refreshing and the grounds well manicured and spacious. Howarth House is centrally located in a great area of Fitchburg and a short drive to most things around. We had a great time and would recommend this Bed and Breakfast to anyone.

We found this place on the internet so didn't really know what to expect but the location was perfect for us. We were absolutely delighted to find such a gem. The owners Linda and Brain are really nice people; kind and considerate. The grounds are very large, the house is spacious and all the details are thought of. The beds are very comfortable, the bathroom was very modern but looked vintage. We had more for breakfast than we could eat and sat on a large porch overlooking a picturesque ravine. During breakfast a Fisher cat climbed up a distant tree, rattling the crows and a hawk who dive bombed it, so we felt as if we were watching a Nature program in 3D! This would be a great place to hold a small wedding reception due to the beauty of the place.

Room Tip: Right now they have two rooms only that are available. In time they will have 3. We were told that t...

Though the neighborhood around Fitchburg State is a mix of housing, any questions I had were immediately erased when I met Brian and Linda and saw their wonderful house, their yard, their neighborhood and the accommodations. I had no concerns throughout the 3 night stay. The photos do not do the house and the yard justice. Much more homey and comfortable than the photos show. Even though we arrived later in the evening Brian offered to build a fire on the outside terrace so we could warm up after a swim in the pool. A great way to relax following a cross country trip. We were also able to arrange for our family members in the area to come and enjoy breakfast with us the following morning poolside. Great food, great attention to detail, and great hosts. We never felt rushed and we always felt attended to in whatever we needed from umbrellas (Hurricane Irene), to recipes, to food. I highly recommend Howarth House under the direction of Brian and Linda. I would not hesitate to stay at their house again. You might save a few dollars at a hotel chain but you will miss out on great hosts and a wonderful and comfortable B and B.

My husband and I stayed here with our 5 month old baby during a trip to visit family nearby. We were expecting it to be a great BnB, but nowhere near as great as it turned out to be! Linda and Brian were by far, one of the best hosts we have had the privilege of staying with and their house is simply both stunning and relaxing. They were very welcoming and friendly and we were grateful that they didn't mind babies! (we had left booking to the last minute and so many places refuse children under 12) Unfortunately the weather changed on the second day and so we weren't able to make as much use of the fabulous pool and grounds as we wanted to, but we were still able to enjoy their wonderful home cooked breakfasts outside near the lush surrounds. I was very grateful in particular, to the attention paid to my inability to have dairy- they were so cautious about it and willing to bend over backwards to accommodate me. All in all, we would definitely stay again and hopefully longer! (we would probably sneak up for few days earlier before seeing family next time :)

Room Tip: We stayed in the north room, it seemed the biggest as we had a child with us.

Everything we needed was provided. We were treated like members of the family. The custom-order breakfast was absolutely amazing (firemen know how to cook!). The correspondence with the innkeepers before our trip was what sold me on this B&B – I received timely, competent, and detailed email responses, and Brian was so easygoing and friendly, I passed up other, closer inns to stay at Howarth House. We were not disappointed. My husband loved their solar panel energy-saving project, and my daughter adored their dog, Tucker, and cat, Luna. A lovely weekend stay. Thank you, Linda & Brian.

I stayed here because all the hotels were full. What a wonderful stroke of luck for me! Linda and Brian were wonderful hosts. The accommodations were pristine, relaxing, comfy, peaceful, serene and the hosts are warm and genuine people. I was there for a job interview and they shared much with me about the area. Which is essential when considering moving to a new State and area I'd never visited before. Early the first morning, I joined Linda and Tucker (dog) for a trail walk at a nearby reservoir. Perfect time of year with all the fall colors. Brian and Linda serve up a deliciously, wonderful breakfast. Fit for a fireman/woman, business person, traveler or anyone who needs a good breakfast to start their busy day. You really can't go hungry. Love the blueberry pancakes! I was treated like a much welcomed family member. The Fitchburg State University is so close with cultural activities available. You're close to the outdoors for hiking, sightseeing, plus more. I highly recommend staying here. The hosts really appreciate you and you'll appreciate all they have to offer.
