“Lovely stay, very accommodating!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2011

My husband and I stayed here with our 5 month old baby during a trip to visit family nearby. We were expecting it to be a great BnB, but nowhere near as great as it turned out to be! Linda and Brian were by far, one of the best hosts we have had the privilege of staying with and their house is simply both stunning and relaxing. They were very welcoming and friendly and we were grateful that they didn't mind babies! (we had left booking to the last minute and so many places refuse children under 12) Unfortunately the weather changed on the second day and so we weren't able to make as much use of the fabulous pool and grounds as we wanted to, but we were still able to enjoy their wonderful home cooked breakfasts outside near the lush surrounds. I was very grateful in particular, to the attention paid to my inability to have dairy- they were so cautious about it and willing to bend over backwards to accommodate me. All in all, we would definitely stay again and hopefully longer! (we would probably sneak up for few days earlier before seeing family next time :)

Room Tip: We stayed in the north room, it seemed the biggest as we had a child with us.

Everything we needed was provided. We were treated like members of the family. The custom-order breakfast was absolutely amazing (firemen know how to cook!). The correspondence with the innkeepers before our trip was what sold me on this B&B – I received timely, competent, and detailed email responses, and Brian was so easygoing and friendly, I passed up other, closer inns to stay at Howarth House. We were not disappointed. My husband loved their solar panel energy-saving project, and my daughter adored their dog, Tucker, and cat, Luna. A lovely weekend stay. Thank you, Linda & Brian.

I stayed here because all the hotels were full. What a wonderful stroke of luck for me! Linda and Brian were wonderful hosts. The accommodations were pristine, relaxing, comfy, peaceful, serene and the hosts are warm and genuine people. I was there for a job interview and they shared much with me about the area. Which is essential when considering moving to a new State and area I'd never visited before. Early the first morning, I joined Linda and Tucker (dog) for a trail walk at a nearby reservoir. Perfect time of year with all the fall colors. Brian and Linda serve up a deliciously, wonderful breakfast. Fit for a fireman/woman, business person, traveler or anyone who needs a good breakfast to start their busy day. You really can't go hungry. Love the blueberry pancakes! I was treated like a much welcomed family member. The Fitchburg State University is so close with cultural activities available. You're close to the outdoors for hiking, sightseeing, plus more. I highly recommend staying here. The hosts really appreciate you and you'll appreciate all they have to offer.

Brian and Linda were excellent hosts and very kind and hospitable. The service was excellent and the breakfast was outstanding. Food was fresh and homemade. The blueberry pancakes were the best we ever had.

The rooms were very comfortable, cozy, clean and well maintained. The grounds were beautiful and very inviting. In the warm weather you can have breakfast on an outside covered deck or a beautiful porch with great views of the grounds.

The rates were reasonable .

We really enjoyed our stay and will return the next time we are in the area.

I stayed at The Howarth House June 18th 2011.
The house is beautifully restored. The rooms are unbelievably clean and comfortable
and elegantly appointed. No comfort is overlooked.

The hosts Brian and Linda are delightful and nothing is too much trouble for them.
I enjoyed breakfast sitting out by the pool surrounded by trees and gorgeous flower beds.

The house is so convenient to the town and Fitchburg State College but it is a sanctuary,
totally private and secluded high on the hill.

I wish it had been a week, not just the weekend!!
It would be perfect to stay while on a ski trip to Wachusett Mountain in the winter.

Room Tip: Both rooms are spacious and quiet.

At the end of May we were guests at the Howarth House Bed and Breakfast in Fitchburg, MA, for three nights. It is a wonderful place to stay and offers an experience that reminds us of our visits to Bed & Breakfasts in Ireland, Scotland, and England. The inside of the home and surrounding gardens are lovely with spring flowers used to enhance both places. The bathroom is one of the most beautiful and luxurious we have ever seen with ceramic tiles that reminded me of a cool mountain stream. Décor in the bedroom is clean, elegant, and comfortable. A porch with a balcony overlooks a delightful wooded hillside and our breakfast was served there each morning. The sound of falling water from a small stream cascading down the hill added to the tranquility of the place. While we sat there we could see young owls in the tops of the trees with binoculars our hosts shared with us.
The food is first class and generous with fresh home baked breads and fruit to start followed by eggs, meat, and/or blueberry pancakes fixed according to the guest preference. The room included tea service and fresh coffee was on the buffet in the dining room.
The hospitality of the hosts, Brian and Linda, was very gracious. They shared their home so generously and provided a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. We plan to return to the Howarth House on our next trip to Massachusetts.

Clean...beautiful...comfortable...delicous....priced right....warm....hospitibal...quaint....immpecible....I dont know what else to say. My husband and I spent a night there as an early Valentine's day gift to each other and were overwhelemed at how quickly we fell in love all over again from the relaixing and romantic atmosphere our room gave off ( the north room ). from the warm glow of the fireplace to the double person shower...from the antique decor to the wonderful freshly made breakfast. Just AMAZING!!!!! Go go go!!!!!! Brian and Linda 4 thumbs up!!!!!!!!!!
