“Great family run establishment”
Reviewed July 4, 2012

The Tides is just outside of downtown Falmouth, you couldn't ask for a better location - and right on the ocean. The hotel is next to a dock so if you have a boat, you can launch a little way away and then tie up next to the hotel which was a great feature for our group. A nice path runs up the shore for walking.
As mentioned in previous reviews, the hotel is in want of some updates but we were fine with what they had in the rooms as far as refrigerator and microwave. (We had to unplug the refrigerator as it kept kicking on and off loudly all night but that wasn't a big deal.) The property is one of the cleanest hotels I have ever stayed in, five star and otherwise! Definitely will be back as we have family & friends in Falmouth and this offers us a peaceful, friendly and affordable option for visiting folks without sleeping on couches!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the beachside!

Stayed at this oceanside motel that is "Old Cape Cod" at its best! Close to ferry and dining spots. Clean and relaxing, and right on the beach. Fall asleep listening to the ocean waves.

This family operated motel is everything your looking for if you just want to relax by the water.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the beach or harbor are both great depending on what you want to see. The ducks will...

It was on the ocean- literally feet from the shore. Beautiful and a very nice location at the end of a street. The place and room were spotless, but aged. I think the first micro wave oven that was made was in the room. It had a small refrigerator and everything worked. I didn't notice any wifi and none was offered or mentioned anywhere. Glad I had my own hotspot. No pool, or rec area, it was pretty plain. There is a ceiling fan but no A/C. The beds need to be upgraded and the outside deck for the second floor needs some work. There are no separators on the deck from your neighbors but there are cheap white plastic chairs on the deck to sit on. That said, I wouldn't hesitate to go again but I wouldn't go for more than 3 days. Price was reasonable for off season. I'd easily give this 5 stars if it weren't for the few short comings.

Room Tip: All the ocean front rooms are great

Our family has been staying at the Tides for 20 years. You cannot beat the location if you enjoy hearing the waves crash outside your sliding glass door. Dean, the owner, is very accommodating and keeps the rooms very clean! I highly recommend staying at The Tides! We will be back in August for a family reunion!

My wife and I got married in Falmouth at the Flying Bridge last September. Our rehearsal dinner was at the Falmouth Yacht Club which is a stones throw from the Tides Hotel. Our wedding party stayed here. The rooms were great. Clean with an ocean view. We slept with the slider open to hear the waves at night. The staff was very friendly and we had no issues what so ever. If we had to complain about one thing, it would be that there are no rooms with King Size beds. We plan to go back for our 1st anniversary in September. Cheers!

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for an ocean view room. There are some on the right side of the hotel that face t...

We stayed for 4 nights at the end of July. The room was a good size and immaculately clean. We were given a fan when checking in as there is no air conditioning & it was hot. We had the doors at both ends of the room open to let the air blow through. We were facing the harbour so it was kind of noisy from boats and cars. We really could have done with an air-conditioner. It is right on the beach which is really nice until you get to the water. It is really rocky in the water and not just for a few feet like some areas. That part was disappointing. We were gone most of the time so it didn’t matter except for the last day we wanted to relax on the beach & in the water. We found it expensive for what it was, but that is Falmouth; everything is expensive. You need to bring your own shampoo, etc. There was a coffee maker & fridge in the room. No pool.

Room Tip: Facing the ocean are nicer & probably more quiet

This motel is not fancy, but I've always found it to be immaculately clean. There is no better location on the Cape. It's incredibly beautiful to look out over Martha's Vineyard sound and watch the boats coming and going from the harbor. Plenty of dining options in the area. I won't stay anywhere else in the Falmouth area because the location is simply perfect.

Room Tip: I like the second floor because of the view, and better air circulation on warm nights.
