This long trail has many parking options and trail lengths. In the summer be prepared for loads of traffic. it is beautiful and we locals prefer the off season to enjoy it.
We walked the trail in Dec. and were lucky enough to get a day in the 40's. A good part of the path is right along the ocean and totally flat so an easy walk.
Shining Sea is a beautiful ride through, first, the Sippewisset marshes (where Rachel Carson researched Silent Spring), and then along the beach on Vineyard Sound. It's well paved with several parking areas depending on how far you want to ride and it ends in Woods Hole.
The paths and lines were clearly marked. Speed limits posted. View OUTSTANDING. Various parking locations for starts and finish.
Very well maintained and flat, paved bikeway that parallels the shore for part of the journey. Great opportunity to see the coast and inland marshes up close while enjoying the outdoors. Easy ride for the kids too.
One of the nicest rails-to-trails we have ridden on. Takes you through trees, beaches, and pretty neighborhoods. Food options along he way. BIke rentals right nearby in Falmouth.
