Probably the best meal I had in a long time. The food was delicious and the service very friendly. The glasses of wine could have been better. We will select a better wine next time.

The Glass Onion is a short walk from downtown Falmouth, but worth the effort to get there. We arrived shortly after 5 on a Friday night, as the restaurant does not accept reservations. When we arrived, we were given a shotglass of watermelon gazpacho, and our drink order was taken. We each had the Coonamessett greens salad, with fresh blueberries, for an appetizer. The swordfish was done perfectly, and was white throughout, which was not true for a meal at another restaurant in the area. I had the duck, medium rare, and was awed. The service was attentive without being smothering, and the food, and the decor were wonderful. We kicked ourselves for not eating there the next night.

When we first arrived with friends we planned on cocktails -so the no reservations didn't matter One of our friends ordered a mojito. The waiter came from the back after picking fresh mint to muddle.

The fresh gazpacho brought to our table was so fresh and delicious. We had fresh herbed oysters and our meals were fresh pooched lobster, swordfish and sea bass with spinach and mushroom rissoto. Dessert was cheesecake with fresh berries. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience.
Can't wait to visit again.

The preparations were created and executed skillfully. Unfortunately, our waiter, Peter (aka [--]) was unpleasant throughout...pretentious and inattentive. We asked what the "boat cod" preparation was, and he said (no joke)...you don't know what cod is? Anyway, great food but you pay a price.

We chose this restaurant, hoping we would experience the best restaurant in Falmouth, and queued accordingly. The thing about Falmouth is that there is such excellent fresh sea-food available, in many good-value, high quality establishments, that it is difficult to know what to do to make somewhere stand out.

The quality of the fish was excellent - well cooked and fresh. But two things were less good than I would expect. The lobster strudel is an interesting idea. The fish was cooked perfectly, but the pasty was under-cooked and still tasted of flour. This is a basic error for an restaurant that prides itself on the quality of its cooking. The other thing that lessoned our enjoyment was that we were sat next to a very noisy local 'hen party' - and our conversations were constantly interrupted by some very loud squarking. This is a difficult issue for the staff, but in high quality establishments, this sort of behaviour would not be accepted. Service was good, but our waitress lost her way through the list of specials on account of the interruptions from the noisy table...
