Just a brief note to say that our experience at Sagres this past summer--arrived just before lunch on a Sunday, beating the local rush that soon followed--was in all ways positive.
From the heavenly tradition that is their kale soop, to the steaks (thin, so order more rare than you would normally), and the fantastic Portugese white wine that was recommended. Service was friendly and attentive, even when the after-church crowd came in. We were dressed much more casually than most after a day on the water, but had heard the raves and wanted to try it on the way home.
These days, many restaurants strive for authenticity in their chosen genre. It's always great to see a place that doesn't have to do anything but just be who they are.
Glad we went, and we're headed back tonite with friends before an evening out for music at the nearby Narrows Center for the Arts. Check it out for yourself. Reasonable prices, too.
