“Lobstah!!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 6, 2013

After a tip from the Jim at Seven South Street Inn, we hit up Farnham's. Great service, clean little dive. Their prices seem a bit high, but the fpod is simple and very good, also, abundant. Our first lobster rolls - I can't imagine they're all this good. Very little mayo. And! No hot dog bun. Will be back.

“Consistently perfect”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 5, 2013 via mobile

It was no accident that this place won the TV contest for the best clams. It is amazing, and has been so for many years. Do not believe the hype, this is where locals eat fried clams- not the place accross town.it is not cheap, but it is good. Warning: lines in summer can be brutal, so try to come between lunch and dinner.

“Better than the more popular clam shack....”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 24, 2013

Okay everyone knows about Woodman's, great fried seafood and big cold beers - expensive as all get out, but not so many know about Farnhams (as we locals call it). It is situated on the Essex River, eat inside or outside. The views up the river are stunning, the food is delectable and the prices are reasonable. What more do you need after a day at the beautiful North Shore beaches!

“The Quintessential Clam Shack”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 14, 2013

Farnham's is our go-to clam shack in Essex. The fried clam plate is excellent--with a generous helping of clams, fries, and onion rings...everything you want in a clam plate! They are tasty and the fried-ness is flaky and hits the spot!

For non-clam eaters, the Greek salad is a great choice. The clam and fish chowders are quite flavorful, as well. The only thing that needs a little tweaking is the cole slaw, which is slightly bland. But, Farnham's is a winner all-around! Just beware--clams cost five times more than they did way-back-when...but it's well worth it for a treat every now and then!

“Fried Seafood, Chowder and Charm”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2013

Classic New England Fried Clam joint. They do it better than anyone else and the food it fried nicely with a light crisp batter. You should hide your face if anyone from your Weight Watchers group happens by because you will surely eat too much fried food here! Chowder is delicious and milk based not cream (some caloric consolation). When it is open, it is busy, so plan and off time to really enjoy. You can eat outside in summer, though it's a bit "roadside". Best fried clams around (and there are a lot of good places The Village, Clam Box and the Cupboard in Gloucester). This is just the best if calories are not object (and every once in a while, they shouldn't be). Enjoy! Bring CASH only!!! ATM in Restaurant will rip you off!
