What we liked :
- perfect location with beautiful surroundings
-walking distance to downtown
-comfy bed
-spacious rooms

What we didn't like :
- dirty rooms (we wanted to change our room but we realized the other room we booked was dirty too) - really dusty headbard, disgusting lightswitches, spiderwebs on the lamps, fingerprints on the mirrors, stains on wall etc. In fact the rooms need to be updated.
-ordinary service, when we checked out the receptionnist didn't even ask if we enjoyed our stay.
- the people in the room above us walked in their room ALL 3 nights, moving furniture and making a lot of noise. Not the hotel fault, but the building was really noisy even if it was off season. It must be unpleasant during the summer. The rooms are separated by doors, so you hear everything.

This place could be great if it was well maintained. Overall we had a good time but this place is big and I would not recommend going there during high season if you need to relax. This is a resort suitable for couples with children but not for a romantic getaway in my opinion.

Thank you for your feedback on your stay with us at the Harbor View. I am saddened to hear we did not meet your expectations and the cleanliness was below par as well. I will certainly be sharing this feedback with my team in order to coach and train them so we are better in the future. Additionally, with the change in ownership at the beginning of the year, we will be going through a major renovation beginning this fall. We hope you come back to see us once it's complete!

It's taken me some time to write this but it needed to be done. We were at the hotel last year with another couple and stayed in one of the Captain's Cottage, our accommodations couldn't have been nicer. Beautiful decor, clean rooms and lots of space. The concierge Darlene was perfect! We contacted her prior to our arrival on the island to get some ideas and then executed most of her suggestions when we arrived. We give her full credit for giving us the best possible advice that really made our most of our time on Martha's Vineyard magical! Her friendly but professional service was appreciated and she is one of the best concierges we've ever dealt with! You can tell that she knows her stuff and genuinely cares about the hotel guests. Seek her out so that you get the most out of your vacation on MV, you can trust her ideas. The pub Henry's was one of our favorite spots to grab a drink or lunch. We enjoyed the porch with the grand view of the Edgartown Lighthouse. We'll be back.

Room Tip: Main building or one of the cottages.

We stayed 2 nights at the Harbor View hotel. Amazing experience! We had a slight issue the first night but the man at the front desk (Carlos I believe) moved us to an amazing room to make up for the issue we experienced. We were given an AMAZING room. We had plenty of room for my wife and 2 kids. The way our issue was handled demonstrated impeccable customer service and the utmost care for the needs of those staying at the hotel. Highly recommend!!

Great spot, nice staff, building needs a good painting but it is off season. Location of course is great as right across from water. Didn't get two network tv channels as we assume dispute with Direct TV. Can do take out from restaurant as no room service off season.

Saw some rugged reviews recently and thought we'd share our 2 cents worth on the Harbor View. We spent a 3 day weekend here this March. We were in the main building and experienced none of the issues some other reviewers had. On check-in the fireplace was roaring nicely. The young staff member handling our checkin was efficient and friendly and made sure to say "hello" the many times we passed by. At other times of day and night when others were staffing the front desk we were always warmly greeted and asked if everything was ok or if we needed anything. Our evening in Henry's, the hotel bar, was lovely. Despite being a busy night we had a friendly bartender who took great care of us. The best part of our stay was our room. Just lovely. Bed linens and the bed itself were wonderful. We had a nice view of the ocean, and wished it was warmer so we could have coffee out on our porch (there's an in-room Keurig) The room had nice wainscoting and nicely painted walls in muted colors. Many windows allowed us to have the room as bright with sunshine as we wanted. The bathroom was fine, too, with nice amenities. Truly, hard to complain -- and the views just lovely. Quintessential Edgartown. To complete our stay we went to the Sunday buffet -- all of the basics, plus an omelette and carving station, great bar list, and attentive staff. We look forward to a future stay.

Room Tip: Third floor rooms in Main Building are lovely if you can get an ocean view.
