I stayed at the Kelley House next door and visited the pub at night for beers. I didn't taste the food, but it looked good. There was a good crowd there, but not crowded. There were a lot of New England beers. Our server was extremely attentive. Festive atmosphere and good for groups - not overly loud.

Walking into this place you can't fail to feel the great atmosphere generated by the excellent internal decor which gives it that old pub feeling. The menu was limited to simple favourites, which were well cooked and efficiently served. The beer menu was more extensive, with some really enjoyable finds and local brews.I thought that this was the best pub visited in town.

There were 4 of us that went here for lunch on September 20, 2008.
We were seated immediately and ordered some large draft beers that were 25 ounces, nice! There are TV's on the wall with sports on which made me happy.
I ordered the roast beef au jus sandwich and my wife ordered a turkey club sandwich both of which came with fries.
My sandwich had too much cheese on it and it was just ok, nothing great. My wife's sandwich wasn't that great either. We both enjoyed the fries though. The other couple weren't too excited about their food either.
Great atmosphere and beer but the food was pretty ordinary.
We wouldn't go back for the food.

Having overindulged on hors d'oeuvres before dinner we were looking for a casual place for dinner with lighter fare. We thought Newes from America, in the basement below the Kelley House, would fit the bill and were very satisfied with our dining experience. The room is somewhat dark but very cozy. The service was friendly and attentive. The selection of draft beers was also quite good. The menu could be described as pub food but everything we tried was quite good. Our party of four had the smoked turkey sandwich, the fried calamari, a turkey reuben, and the mussels. Would definitely go there again for lunch or a casual, light dinner.

Good burgers, beers, onion rings, pub fare. Great selection of beers. Surprisingly, French onion soup and pulled pork sandwich -- although neither traditional pub nor colonial fare -- are both delicious. A bit dark, the Newes is especially warm and inviting in the colder fall/winter months.
