Owner description: The Martha's Vineyard Museum is privileged to be the steward of three of the Island's lighthouses. The East Chop, Edgartown, and Gay Head lighthouses are not only historic reminders of a bygone age, but are working beacons that still send a light out into the night. Beyond their important functional role, these structures also offer visitors spectacular views of the breathtaking beauty of Vineyard Sound, the simple elegance of Edgartown Harbor & Chappaquiddick, and the majestic cliffs of Aquinnah. Major renovations completed in 2007, including installation of a staircase to the lantern room, allow the interior of the Edgartown Light to be open to visitors. A lighthouse keeper will be available and the doors will be open during designated hours. Parking is available, but limited, on North Water Street. The Vineyard Transit Authority (VTA) busses drop off on Church Street in Edgartown. It is a 5-10 minute walk to the lighthouse from this location.

Cute lighthouse that has a nice walk to get to. Super view of the harbor and the boats passing by. Has a small beach for a swim if you are so inclined. An enjoyable experience was had by all.

The lighthouse is a cute and fun attraction. A walk up is $5, but no necessarily worth it if you've got something else to spend $5 on.

One of the beautiful lighthouses in Martha's Vineyard.
It's about 12 mins walk from the visitors' center where you hop off the bus13.

Great view at the lighthouse and the walk through Edgartown was very nice as well. Recommend this area to travelers as it can be reached easily from Oaks Bluff or Vineyard Haven ferry docks - just hop on the local transit which is cheap.

The walk to the lighthouse is very nice. It's just past town and there is a path that leads you over some flat rocks with water on both sides. After you cross the rocks you arrive on a a small area where there is a ocean, beach and the lighthouse. There is a small fee to go up and it's worth it the view back to edgartown is amazing. Great photo op!
