Listed on the National Historic Register, this windmill is a lovely little photo op in the middle of Eastham. Said to be the oldest windmill on the Cape, built by Eastham resident Thomas Paine in Plymouth in 1680. It was first moved to nearby Truro in 1770, then finally to Eastham in 1793. In 1808 the windmill was moved to its present location across from the town hall.

A local festival, Eastham Windmill Weekend, has taken place the first weekend after Labor Day since 1977.

This is such a random thing, and we never expected to see a windmill in the middle of this town, but it was interesting and it makes for a good photo op.

Easily located and seen from the road. Ample parking available. The grounds are well maintained as is this national artifact. If you are a windmill enthusiast or love American History this is worth the visit.

The Eastham Windmill and Windmill Park mark the traveler's arrival in Eastham. We always look forward to seeing it at the crossroad of Samoset which leads to First Encounter Beach where you can witness the dramatic daily changes in the landscape due to the powerful tides.

Worth a quick little stop. We attended a wedding here, which was unique but it's situated where you can stop and take a peek
