“Great School House”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

Very nice, old school house. You can sit in the desks and actually hold a class! My daughter played school teacher and we were the students. We all had great fun. Don't miss the Eastham Musuem on the other side of the building.

“Nice for quick view”
Reviewed July 20, 2013

Short museum, offers great history on Eastham and area. It is very small and you can go through it in a very short time. Not a great spot to bring young children and the older children may bore quickly, but it will offer them a look back in time. If you have never been to an old school house it is well worth the trip!

“An actual class room from the original 1869 building”
Reviewed November 13, 2012

Thsi is a bit unusual. It is a hands on 1869 classroom. Kids can sit in the seats, read the old books, write on their won chalkboard at every desk. Touchy, feel is good for kids.

“A Step Back Into Cape Cod History”
Reviewed August 20, 2011

This was a one-room school house back in the old days and has been lovingly and painstakingly preserved. Much is still in the classroom--including portraits of former students in period dress. We were there for a special open house and had the pleasure of talking to former students who relayed stories about school (and life) in Cape Cod long ago. This was a hands-on historical experience. My children sat in the old desks and were allowed to write on slates and to look through old-time school books. The school books were a marvelous piece of history and worth the trip by themselves. The place is not huge but worth a stop on your way through Eastham or to Coast Guard Beach.
