“Still not good”
Reviewed September 21, 2013

When Oaxaca first opened I went there with a few of my local Cape friends and had
meals that were way too salty, cold and bland. I figured they were new so they desired
a second chance since they must have had plenty of time serving the many tourist
all summer to get the kinks out. To our surprise NOTHING had changed!! We should have been warned by the bad review in the local daily newspaper. It's too bad because it seems no restaurant has made it in that location.

“Overpriced and bland.”
Reviewed September 20, 2013

We visited mid-week off season. The service was prompt and friendly enough (the place was practically empty) but we were very disappointed with the food. The corn chips were borderline stale and the salsa didn't have any heat at all. We shared an order of jalapeno poppers which were okay. Then we shared a $16.00 steak quesadilla that had a scant amount of beef and tasteless melted cheese. The sides consisted of a tiny amount of sour cream, guacamole and more salsa. Perhaps we would have felt better about the price if the food had at least been flavorful.

Thank you for your review and we hope on your next visit you will try one of our signature dishes that our Mexican and non-Mexican customers love. Quesadillas in the form that we sell them are not actually true Mexican quesadillas but so many Tex-Mex places sell them like this we decided for our customers to do the same (We agree that there is nothing truly inspirational about their current form), we just do them like that for our customers with simpler palates and children. We use all high quality products such as real steak and no low quality fillers in our dishes. We do not aim to be just another low quality fast-food restaurant which is reflective in our competitive pricing. Thank you again for your review.

“Underwhelming”
Reviewed September 18, 2013

Our party of 8 was seated promptly over the Labor Day weekend and the service was slow but friendly. The restaurant was not crowded but the staff seemed harried. Drinks were very good and the large bar is inviting. The food came out between lukewarm and cold and we had to send some of it back to be reheated. The black bean soup had excellent flavor the second time around and the meaty pigs wings appetizer was also very flavorful. My shrimp scallops and lobster in tequila was interesting but heavy. I wanted to really like this place due to its size and convenient Eastham location, but like most other restaurants in this spot over the last few years it was underwhelming at best. Go for the margaritas and the appetizers in the bar.

“Borderline Average”
Reviewed September 2, 2013

I love mexican food, and lived in DC for awhile where great mexican restaraunts abound. When we checked into Sheraton, was happy to see a Mexican restaraunt next door. Unfortunately, the food and the service weren't great. The food was rather unspired and was bland. Nothing about spices used or salsa stuck me as especially good. The server was waiting on what seemed like half the restaraunt and was running around like crazy. As a result, service slow albeit felt a bit bad for server as she did best she could.

Bottom line, if you really like Mexican food then you will likely be dissapointed. If you don't then maybe you won't notice :)
