“An absolutely lovely place”
Reviewed September 8, 2009

Gordon and Jean's remarkable hospitality, coupled with their beautiful guest suites and the stunningly peaceful setting, made their Fort Hill B&B the high point of our trip. They have mastered the delicate art of unobtrusive hospitality - always there when you need something, and happy to help one choose a restaurant or kayak rental place, but somehow always knowing when privacy is desired. One thing I especially loved was the breakfast table conversation. Gordon adds just the right touch of friendliness to help people feel comfortable with each other, and the result was wonderful conversation and a feeling that we were among friends. Another favorite was the setting - a short walk to the shore or salt marsh, lovely walking trails, and wildlife. Hearing an owl in the night, spotting fearless rabbits on the paths - it just got better and better. A beautiful, peaceful, friendly place that gave us a perfect vacation.

We had the blessing of staying at Fort Hill for four days to unwind and celebrate our tenth wedding anniversity. Though we travel fairly often we had never stayed at a B & B, nor had we been to the Cape. We have come home raving.

This B & B is a haven of tranquility, away from the bustle and traffic and anything remotely touristy. After reading the reviews, we knew we were in for a treat...it was everything we imagined and more. Gordon and Jean are great host personalities, so welcoming, never overbearing...lots of great suggestions for activity and dinner on the Cape. The room was large, spotless and perfectly decorated. Each morning greated us with the opportunity to walk (or run) in a peaceful setting that overlooked the marsh and distant ocean waves. Jean's breakfasts made us eager to get up and get the day started. The conversations with the guests at the table were fun and enlightening. Each moment of our stay became novel material. This is an excellent location on the Cape as well. Just quick drive to Wellfleet or Provincetown and not far to Hyannis and the ferry to Martha's or Nantucket.

Thank you, Jean and Gordon for the conversations and laughs and for each detail, each day. Your hard work, though seamless and largely unseen, shows in everything. We will not soon forget our tenth wedding anniversary and take with us enough fond memories to chat about in each year to come. (if we aren't there making more :-)

We had a wonderful time at Fort Hill Bed and Breakfast this August. It was our first trip to the Cape and we couldn't imagine a better place to stay than Fort Hill. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and Gordon and Jean's recommendations were spot on! Between the whales, the views, the company and the food it's a difficult to pick a single highlight.

A wonderful place to stay with very nice, attentive hosts. The accomodations are spacious and the grounds are beautiful with easy access to anything on the cape. It was truly a first class experience.

There are many variables to a vacation - FT Hill Bed and Breakfast is the closest thing to eutopia. Here are the reasons why - Gordon and Jean treat you like family, the Inn is on the National Registry and has its own unique personality, it is a small Inn and you get to indulge in wonderful conversation with a potential of four other guests at breakfast , the settingis beautiful - just proced to the end of the road to watch the sunrise or the sunset, the wonderful beaches - I would walk the beaches early in the morning - the above all helps to cleanse the soul and refresh the mind.
It is a pleasure to come to this historic B&B and be able to reflect onlife in such a tranquil setting.

For five summers in a row, we’ve enjoyed our week-long stay at this incredible Bed & Breakfast. Each year, Jean & Gordon welcome us & our daughter with warmth & generosity. Jean’s breakfasts are a feast for the body & soul. Each year, our daughter stays in the Emma Suite, which she adores. My husband & I love staying in the Nantucket Cottage... it's quiet, cozy, & has a lovely kitchen, which makes it very easy to prepare meals for our vegetarian daughter. Someday we hope to visit the Cape during the off-season, & you can bet Fort Hill Bed & Breakfast is where we'll stay.

From the spacious rooms, to the warm hospitality of Gordon and Jean, to the yummy breakfasts, to the trails at the historic Fort Hill, we had a memorable time. We loved being near beautiful beaches and look forward to returning to this special place.
