Owner description: A great beach to hike, relax and soak up the natural beauty of the Cape Cod National Seashore.

Great beach area. Has outdoor shower to wash off the salt with. and rest rooms and changing rooms. The only thing I did not like that much...the showers had only cold water. Nice on a hot day, but cold on a cool day

If you've read my other two reviews from last weekend, you'll know that my wife and I had a glorious weekend on the Outer Cape.

My wife loves, loves, loves the beach and ocean. Plunk her down in the sand with a pail, or a bag to gather shells, rocks, and other items washed up on the beach and she'll easily lose an afternoon.

This is a perfect beach for walking, looking for shells, and just appreciating the gorgeous New England coastline, not to mention the power and majesty of the ocean.

This beach is within the Coast Guard National Seashore, which means the National Park Service maintains and provides the facilities for beach-goers. What this means is that the experience will be great because the NPS might be the best example of government operations well and providing what it was intended to provide. Personally, I've never had a bad experience on any NPS property.

I'm guessing that the lot near the lighthouse fills quickly in the summer. However, that's not an issue because shuttle service is provided from the Little Creek parking area (across from the Doane Area). There is some limited handicap-accessible parking and a drop-off area.

The Coast Guard Beach is open the remainder of the year. There are seasonal restrooms and they were open on Friday when we were there in the late afternoon and also on Sunday. There is also a wheelchair-accessible ramp way to the beach.

If you are on the Outer Cape, definitely make a point to visit Coast Guard Beach. You won't be disappointed, unless you don't like the beach.

It was a perfect place to walk on a brisk winter day, to enjoy the surf and the scenery. The walk from the Salt Pond Visitor Center was full of lovely sights and sounds also!

We walked south until we couldn't go any further, and then walked back north until we ran out of daylight. It was beautiful!
