We recently ate at Marshside for the first time and we were glad we did for several reasons. The inside is surprising large and impressively designed with wood and glass that all works to emphasizes the scenic beauty of the Sesuit Marsh. The place was very crowded with families of tourists and yet the service was very good. The wait staff was large and they were attentive. We did not have to wait long for our meals. Seating for two was very quick.

They offer a number of interesting choices of fish and steak and chicken. My wife had the black angus sirloin steak with a mushroom demi-glace and onions rings that were both quite good. I had fresh haddock stuffed with a light seafood stuffing & topped with a lobster sherry cream sauce and it was very tasty. For dessert we had Irish coffees and a brownie sundae that was a meal for two.

The Marshside is off the beaten path and parking is limited unless you go for their valet parking.

The only caution would be that the Marshside is not cheap. I paid $21 for my fish and the sirlon was $27. On the cape, really good food can sometimes be hard to find and when you find it, be prepared to pay a Boston price for good food.

Will not take reservations for parties less than 10. Were told by hostess to come for around 8pm as there should tables. Arrived and informed it would be 90 minutes. Sat at the bar and chatted with bartender. Asked about the no reservation policy. Other bartender was listening to our conversation...the one that looks like Sideshoe Bob....he muttered to the waitresses that he wished we would shut-up. I have no patience for people in the service industry who get frustrated because they get busy. Called him on it...smirked and denied he said anything.
Regarding the food, the appetizers were fantastic: sassy shrimp, crab cakes are the best in the cape, calamari perfectly crisp. Some of the mains were over-cooked: rubbery scallops and mussels.
Great location and atmosphere.

We visited and were quoted an hour wait. It really didn't seem that busy, so we decided to wait. Normally, I won't wait that long, especially with the kids. After an hour and 20 minutes, we went to the hostess, who was quite rude, by the way, and were told that she had told us an hour and a half, which is not true, since I would never, ever agree to wait that long, especially with the kids
While the food was good, it certainly was not worth the price or wait. Next time, we'll go to Chapins.

Reading other reviews is always interesting. (And by the way, I have heard of food poisoning at other establishments across the US. It can happen! After all, just eating out is a gamble no matter where. We don't think of all the highway rest stops we encounter over the yrs.!) I know, one doesn't expect that of a well known place, but-.
Facts are they do have good food. People are upset locally because it was a cheaper hangout before it was torn down and they feel displaced! It is more expensive now, but different menu too. It is a very nice atmosphere, windows all around, kids toys to amuse them at the table. It all depends on the Cape when you go to these establishments. Long lines are part of being on Vaca in a popular area! Sometimes in spring/early summer there is not enough local help out from school/college, thus less attentive. Sometimes not even enough help from overseas during height of season. Things happen. Relax!! Try this place- see for yourself. It continues to be patronized.
