We stayed at this cottage from 7/15-7/22. It had most of the things we were looking for; washer/dryer, AC, 3 bedrooms, 1 1/2 baths, deck, grill and within 1-2 miles of the Dennis Port beaches. For the most part, all went well. The house was clean and was what we expected. The problems we encountered had to do with one of the bedrooms. It was advertised as a queen bed. After trying to sleep on it for a couple hours the first night, we could not move without disturbing each other. My wife ended up on the couch. In addition, the half bath in the bedroom was only usable for males since there is no room to sit on the commode. No leg space at all. We complained to Martha Murray Rentals and were told that someone would come out and measure the bed in question. When we returned, we didn't notice anything different. When I called Martha Murray Rentals, they said that someone had come out, measured and informed us that it was a queen bed. Sorry, no way that mattress was 60" x 80". I also stated that the 1/2 bath toilet was constantly running. To his credit, Andrew came out and fixed the running toilet. Robin then offered her personal queen size air mattress to us. We accepted and it was OK. Except we are in our 60's and sleeping on the floor is not what we are built for anymore. After returning for a 3rd morning to complain, Andrew stated he would make it right.....and he did. The office bought a queen mattress which they placed in the bedroom in question and, indeed, we were able to sleep comfortably for the remainder of our stay.
It's hard to come down on the realtor for our problems. Toilets do run. And they did try to make things right with the air mattress. But, the fact is, the specs were misrepresented. We know the mattress was not a queen because the air mattress loaned us by Robin was clearly wider than what was on the bed. It took 3 days to get the issues fixed.
I believe Martha Murray Rentals needs to speak to the owner of this otherwise great property and either update the description of place a queen mattress in the room. And, at least warn female renters that they will not be able to use the 1/2 bath.
