We went to Cape Cod during the 3rd week of June, just before schools get out. Perfect timing. Everything was open, but not crowded. We really liked our deluxe ocean view room. Even a side view of the ocean gave us plenty to see from our 2nd story balcony. It made for a peaceful start to each day of our vacation; coffee, the newspaper, and binoculars to watch the boats out on the ocean. We liked having the separate sitting area in the room with a comfortable couch and easy chair. Dennis Port is a great location for touring the Cape. It wasn't far to the beaches on the outer Cape, and it was also close to lots of fun family activities and restaurants.

Yes, the rooms are showing their age, but are so clean!!!! We book the first week in January to make sure we get the same rooms each year. The view from the ocean front rooms is excellent, the indoor pool and hot tub are so clean it makes up for the slightly worn appearence of the rooms. We purchase the meal tickets while there and take advantage of the wonderful breakfasts that are served daily in their restaurant. Yes the restaurant is located in with the pool, so it is warm, since you are aware of that, just dress accordingly. The beach is beautiful and the hotel has two small alcoves, so if you want to get away from the worst of the wind, just move your chairs and lounges up closer to the wall. Oh, by the way, the hotel does provide the chairs and lounges for you. No the one and only downfall I have noticed is no coffee pot in the rooms, I went out and purchased a little 4 cup coffee pot at Walmart and bring that with me. They have refrigerators in the room, I store my creamer in there and the coffee pot on top, I bring my own filters, sugar and stirrers. I have to pack snacks anyways, so no big deal. We are definately repeat customers for many years to come.

Since 1989, I have been staying at The Soundings and most trips I bring a small group of family/friends with. The resort is one where you are not afraid to kick off your shoes and just be yourself -no pretense. The rooms are very simple and comfortable although, yes some furniture could be updated. Breakfast is delicious and the staff extremely accomodating. Each trip, I have witnessed an improvement to the resort. Love the Ebb Tide restauant across the street.

Booked an ocean view suite 10/04. View was great, outside very nicely kept but room was a BIG disappointment. It smelled "campy", furniture was beat up, bathroom door was cracked and peeling and left much to be desired. Towels were very small and could not turn on the cold water "just a little". It was either full blast or nothing. Advertised having an indoor pool and hot tub, The Soundings neglects to inform the traveler that one must go outside to get to the pool area. Not something to be advised in the colder months. There was a coffee shop adjacent to the pool area, with nothing seperating the two. Therefore, the temperature in the restaurant was the same as that of the swimming area- very warm. Our poor waitress was sweating. The service and food was good. The outdoor pool and location on the beach are the only saving graces of this hotel and not enough to make us stay there again.

We really love the area surrounding the soundings and the indoor and outdoor pools are great. However the rooms are tired, shabby and uninviting.Last visit the room smelt stale as if the window had never been opened. They really could use a coffee maker in their rooms also. The lounge chairs are old and rusty for the most. Their restaurant serves good breakfasts and the the beach is almost outside the front door, and very beautiful

We visited the Soundings on two separate occasions.
The place looks pleasant enough on the outside but the rooms are in dire need of updating.
Cracked, splintered bathroom doors; peeling comode seats and dresser drawers that were so musty, mildewy smelling that they were unusable.
Each year the Soundings invests in one major improvement but at this rate, it will never be updated. It has a great beachfront location which keeps people coming back but we gave up on it after two summers. Why pay top dollar for a place that needs so much work. The rooms are acceptable at best.

A great place for the whole family. Feet away from the waves and ocean. An indoor and outdoor pool. versatility for the whole family. clean, simple, and great views from your room. Quiet but close to the activities of being a "tourist". My kids keep making me come back.
